Kosem Episode 18
Preparing, cutting, sewing - we are shown these little snippets of the making of that gloriously beautiful red kaftan!
Murat Pasha says that red is the most beautiful hue from amongst the colours of flowers, and also the the colour of the warrior's spilled blood on the battlefield - the colour of death.
Ahmet is being dressed in it. Murat is speaking saying that only the Padishah may wear a fully red kaftan, because the red kaftan is the mark of a ruler, and also that of death. If our mighty Hunkar enters the Divan with a red kaftan - then that day a traitor will certainly be put to death. For this reason, if the things you say are true - and if Dervish Pasha is the murderer of our deceased Padishah, then our Sultan wearing that red kaftan will happen soon. Mehmet says don't worry, sooner or later the truth will come out.
Handan keeps saying she did nothing and Humashah calls for the aghas who enter and Humashah says you are in big trouble, pray nothing happens, hurry and help.
Kosem is being taken out on a stretcher. Haci goes to see Handan and asks what has she done. Handan says I had no choice, Kosem would tell Ahmet everything, she said I have a witness. I have lost myself Haci agha, we must find that witness at once, before it is too late, we must finish their matter. Haci says I know who it is. She says who it is then, say it! Haci says me, I am the one who would witness for Kosem sultan.
Dervish is telling Ahmet that the state spending on the campaigns is quite high, there needs to be some precautions etc.
Humashah arrives to see Ahmet. Meanwhile Cennet rushes to see how Kosem is and asks what happened. The women say they do not know, she has just been brought to them now.
Handan says I have kept a snake with me, you were going to stab me in my back with a dagger is that right?! Haci says whatever I do, is for your sake, to protect you. Handan says you were going to get together with my enemy, witness against me and this was going to be for my sake?! This is betrayal! Haci says Dervish pasha is a murderer, he cannot be saved and if you continue protecting him, you will also become part of the same calamity. You have an opportunity right now. If we do what Kosem says, no harm will come to you. Handan says I will not hand him over, I will find a way, this matter will be closed and you will be quiet for the sake of all these years. Look at my face! You will be silent!
Ahmet listens to Dervish's ideas on how to ease the money problems. Ahmet is pleased with his suggestions and praises him. Zulfikar arrives and tells Ahmet Humashah has arrived. Humashah tells Ahmet that she went to see Handan and doesn't know what happened between them (Handan and Kosem) but that she found Kosem on the ground, in her own blood.
Cennet tells Haci that if anything happens to Kosem, she will turn the harem upside down then asks what happened to Kosem. Haci says he had nothing to do with it. The doctors tell Ahmet that Kosem is alright, but she hit her head or had fallen, it is unknown.
Zulfikar tells Dervish that he knows that this (Kosem's injury) is because of his dirty secrets. When Dervish asks what secrets? Zulfikar says myself and Kosem, we both know about your secrets from the past. Zulfikar says I know that you poisoned our deceased Padishah. Dervish responds by saying Mehmet Giray has poisoned your minds against me, how can you believe that fools lies? And if you did believe, how dare you accuse me! I hope you have some proof!
Ahmet asks Haci where his mother is. Handan is begging God for help when her son arrives. Meanwhile, Zulfikar speaks to Dervish and says of course there is evidence but you destroyed it! Dervish says this is all mere lies without proof to back it up! Zulfikar says have you not gotten rid of Reyhan for this very reason?! Is that not true?! Do you not want rid of Mehmet Giray?! Is that not why you are sending him to Crimea?! Admit to your crime! Dervish says you imbecile, who are you to dare to speak to me this way?! I will make you pay the price for this insolence!
Ahmet rushes through and Halime comments that Ahmet is angry.
Ahmet asks Handan what happened. Handan says it is not my fault my son, Kosem crossed her limits, she cursed me and tried to attack me, and I merely defended myself.
Meanwhile, Kosem wakes up and says her head hurts and Haci says I don't know how to say it...Cennet says speak. Haci says Handan knows I am your witness, and she wants me silent. I do not fear her, but if Dervish finds this out, he will want to take my life. Kosem says do not be fear, they have both come to the end of their lines. Haci says no, you promised Handan would not come to any harm. Kosem says I will keep my promise, will you?
Ahmet asks Handan why Kosem would do such a thing. Handan gets angry and says basically it's all about Kosem, I am your mother! Do my words have no value to you? Ahmet says answer my question! Handan says I caught Halime meeting Mustafa and the one who arranged all this was Kosem, I called her to warn her. This is the truth. Ahmet says let her come to her senses, let us see what she will say. Handan says yeah right, she will deny it all and blame me.
Bulbul asks Humashah how Safiye is. Humashah says she is fine, but I saw in her eyes there are deep wounds, but she is not regretful, she does not accept her mistakes. She blames everyone except herself, just like you. Humashah says I wonder what Kosem says or did that made Humashah behave like that...I want to find out exactly what happened.
Gurbuz asks Alex where he was all day and that Safiye asked for him. When he enters, she says our Hunkar chose this tower for a reason, so that night and day I can watch the palace and see my old magnificent life and feel more pain. It hurts its true, but it gives me the strength to keep going because every glance of mine gives me the hope of returning. Alex says the only way you can return is for our Hunkar to forgive you, and it doesn't look possible right now, but, we do not know what will happen in the future. She says Iskender, if I ask something of you will you do it? Alex says it depends on what you want.
Ahmet goes to see Kosem and asks how she is and if there is pain. She says her head hurts. He says can you tell me what happened because my mother says you attacked when she tried to warn you because she found out about Halime visiting Mustafa. Kosem says I was worried about Mustafa was not well, I was afraid he'd become ill, that is why I let his mother visit him once in a while. Ahmet says so my mother was right. Kosem says but that was a matter from before, it had nothing to do with the incident and I never attacked her, would I ever do such a thing? Ahmet says then tell me what was the matter. Kosem says forgive me, but it is important that Handan sultan tell you that. Today or tomorrow, she will finally tell you.
Cennet tells Kosem she should not have gotten up and kept resting. Kosem says no time to waste. Cennet wonders if they can trust Haci.
Kosem arrives to see Handan who says why have you come, to threaten me? Kosem tells Handan that the burden of the secrets she carries must be weighing heavy on her because there is no explanation for what she did (i.e. hitting her). Handan tells her not to waste her breath because Ahmet hasn't believed her lies and accusations and she doesn't have a witness anyway. Kosem says I have not told anything to Ahmet, but when I do, Haci will be with me, right Haci? Haci says that is true.
Safiye meanwhile has been brought Elizabeth and she tells the lady who brings her to be careful and the woman behaves even ruder. Then she says in front of Alex, ugh, all that was left was a cat! Alex warns her not to be disrespectful because no matter what she is dealing with a Sultana.
Handan says to Kosem, why have you come then? Say whatever you want! Kosem says I will not be telling Ahmet, you will be telling him about Dervish being the murderer. Handan says you want his death to be at my hands eh? Kosem says yes, this will be your punishment. If you do not tell our Hunkar, then it won't only be that that is exposed, but we shall also say that he is in love with you. Haci says to Handan, please heed what Kosem says, otherwise there is no other way. Let Dervish get what he deserves! Why should you be burnt as well, think of the Dynasty! Handan tells Haci that this betrayal from him is more painful to her than if he had died. Handan tells Kosem I will do what you want, but I need time. Kosem says you have time until tomorrow night.
Safiye speaks with Alex and thanks him. Alex tells her that according to an agha in the old Palace, Elizabeth was very unhappy without her master. Then he adds that Elizabeth will be staying on the premises and that whenever Safiye wants, she can see her. Safiye asks him where he is from and Alex says I am from Austria. Safiye asks him if he recalls his family. Alex says it has been a long time I do not remember much. Safiye says I came from Venice (note: some sources claim she is Albanian). Then she basically says no matter where we come from, where we go, we remain the same.
Handan tells Dervish that Haci has betrayed. Dervish says that everyone is against us, Zulfikar also knows and threatened me with it. Handan says Kosem wants me to expose you or she will expose that you love me, I accepted to buy some time, but I will not do it. I will never betray you. Dervish says thanks but the sins are my own - if someone is to pay - it should be me. I will go and admit everything to our Hunkar. Handan says no, never! Dervish says I will do anything to keep you from harm. She says I know, I know you will do it without a moment's thought. But then what? We should trust these scoundrels? Who is to say they will keep their words? Dervish says that is true, then there is only one way left, we must silence everyone who knows the secret.
Kosem wakes up sick and vomiting, she asks for a bowl and Meleki is sent for doctors. Haci is being chased. Mehmet Giray is given the letter he must take to Crimea. Zulfikar is told Ahmet has gone with Dervish in plainclothes to the market and then he is told that his meal is ready.
Dervish and Ahmet go through the market and Ahmet expresses how he needed to get out like this. Dervish says we can also go soon to the architect about your Mosque plans.
Haci is caught. Mehmet Giray is shot with an arrow. Menekshe sees when Haci is being taken away and escapes to tell Halime.
Zulfikar finds out Humashah has come to see him and starts fixing his hair in the reflection of the spoon and then suddenly wonders what he is doing and says "what am I doing!?" He welcomes Humashah who says she wanted to give word that she wishes to visit her mother, but it seems it is a bad time. Zulfikar says no, don't worry - but then he starts choking.
Cennet asks kosem what she has eaten and and to drink and then says they have poisoned the water! Poisoned you!
Humashah rushes to Zulfikar and then calls for aghas who advise doctors be called but she says there is no time and says the poison must be forced out of his body or he will die. She gathers the ashes and asks for water and tells them to hurry up and pass the water, call aghas etc. She says hold Zulfikar, hold on! please hold on!
Meanwhile Ahmet visits a textile merchant and is pleased with what he sees, when he asks how work goes, the man says the merchants are worried, Dervish is a big trouble for them. The people are unhappy. He grabs everything from them (in the form of taxes).
The doctors arrive and are told Kosem is poisoned.
Humashah asks for the funnel but no one has come yet so she uses paper and pours the ash and water mixture into his mouth repeatedly.
Halime has come to see Kosem and says it is urgent. Cennet tells them kosem has been poisoned. Halime says it is obvious timing - Haci has been taken.
We see Haci who has been brought before Handan. She says I wanted to speak to you for the last time, for the sake of the many years together.
The merchants tell each other hide the money, hide it so Dervish doesn't see. One of them tells Ahmet that Dervish is rumoured taking bribe after bribe. Ahmet asks what "Sultan Ahmet says" The men say our Sultan has been attacked from four corners he probably has no idea, maybe if the people come to his doors shouting for justice he will find out and then they add if anyone is to save them it is Kosem Sultan - they heard her doings - she is called the angel with human face. He says she used her own wealth and gave it to Hudai to distribute. The guy then comments, my Bey you have no idea of all the goings on in the world!
Kosem is examined.
Haci tells Handan to stop please. Handan says whatever Dervish did was to protect him. Haci says how can you trust him? He could one day kill Ahmet. Handan says it is obvious Haci, you have gone to Kosem's side long ago. Then she gives the order to the aghas. Haci says, let me pray two rakats (parts) of prayer, then you can take my life.
Menekshe asks what they are going to do and Halime says what is necessary! (save Haci).
Kosem is told she is pregnant.
Cennet finds Humasha who tells her that he has been poisoned, she has done everything she could but - just then he throws it all up.
PART 2
Ahmet returns to the palace asking Dervish what the merchant issues are and Dervish says I have not taken a single coin for myself, all the money has been put in the treasury. Murat pasha arrives and says that the Austrian delegation is insisting on their conditions. Dervish expresses his annoyance. Murat says I have done everything I can, maybe you should speak to them, let's see if you can change their minds! Ahmet says enough, come with me.
Two men approach Bulbul saying Nasuh has sent them. They ask what their job is. Bulbul says don't ask me questions, just do whatever I say.
Safiye meanwhile doesn't like the bath water that is poured out for her saying it is cold and asks for hot water. The servant mocks her saying would you like me to bring milk for you wash yourself in? Safiye tells her to do what she says. The servant says do you still think of yourself as a Sultana? That era is over. Safiye calls her impudent and then beats her up.
Selahettin Efendi arrives and Bulbul asks which one is the lost prince. Selahettin says he has not arrived yet, but then notices Alex enter and points to him. Bulbul is in disbelief and says are you sure it is Iskender? Selah. says yes I am certain, he's the one who brought the shirt and he has the mark on his back. Bulbul says Oh my God! He has been right before our very eyes and we never noticed! He looks like our Sultana actually.
Safiye is strangling the servant saying what do you think you are. Gurbuz intervenes. Safiye shouts, get out!
Selahettin is about to get up to speak to Alex and bulbul stops him, then asks if anyone else knows. then he tells the two men standing there to escort Selahettin Efendi out (poor man has no idea.)
Kosem wonders where Cennet is and then Cennet arrives who informs her that not only is Haci missing, but Zulfi has been poisoned.
Meanwhile, Ahmet tells Murat that he should send word to the delegates that they agree to the terms. Murat is pleased and adds then we can go get the Celalis. Dervish speaks up and asks Ahmet for permission to speak to the delegates instead to try and convince them. Ahmet says no, it is enough, the time has come to gather all our strength. Dervish says then let us ensure they will keep their word on their side and to pay the amount agreed to pay. Ahmet is then told that Zulfikar has been poisoned.
Cennet is telling Kosem about Humashah saving Zulfikar's life and Kosem wonders what Humashah was doing there to begin with. Cennet says she does not know.
Kosem comes across Handan and says Haci is missing, they say he has been killed and Zulfikar has been poisoned. Handan says I heard, Mehmet Giray has also been killed by someone. Kosem says you have silenced everyone, but how will you silence me? Handan says my son will be having dinner with me tonight, you should come as well and say whatever you want to say to him, but just now that no one listens to your poisonous lies. Kosem says you and Dervish will not get away with this, Ahmet will take you to account. Handan says yes he will, but not from us, he will assume it is Safiye sultan. I think you should be careful...do not be Safiye's last sacrifice...
Humashah tells Ahmet that she had come to ask Zulfikar about taking her to visit her mother and that he was eating...and it is probably the case that someone put poison in his fruit drink and then she says that when he fell she intervened. Ahmet asks Dervish how this can happen! Dervish says he will investigate at once and whoever did it will pay for it.
Handan goes to her room to cry and asks God to forgive her.
Cennet tells Kosem to give up because it is dangerous and Kosem says so that they can get away with it? Just then Menekshe arrives and says that Halime is waiting for her and it is important that she comes at once.
Alex sees that Selahettin Efendi is dead. A man tells him no one knows what happened but that this is how he was found by a neighbour. Alex says I was going to meet him but when he didn't arrive...the man says it is God's will, we do not know when it knocks at our door.
Ahmet asks Dervish what is going on since both Mehmet Giray and Zulfi have been attacked at the same time. Dervish says Safiye sultan, who else could it be? he says that both Zulfi and Mehmet Giray have prevented her from achieving her goals.
Kosem finds Haci who says "Halime sultan found me in the last moment" Kosem thanks Halime saying you have saved us from big trouble! halime says she hopes it will benefit and Kosem says it will.
Ahmet asks why Handan has called him. She says I called you to say we must be one together. I called Kosem too, to end the trouble between us, but she has not come. Ahmet says but Kosem did not accept your version of the story (when she hit kosem), she says you would be able to say what it was about. Handan says of course she would deny everything. Just then Kosem arrives. Handan says we were waiting for you, finally you came. Kosem says sorry I was busy with my princes.
Bulbul is talking to himself saying he wishes he could give the good news to his Sultana. Humashah sneaks up on him and says what news? He quickly says nothing, just that her enemies are now fighting amongst themselves. Humashah says today Zulfikar almost died. Hopefully he recovers. Bulbul says I heard, but forgive me, I wish you had left him so he could have got what he deserved. As you know he worked with Kosem against Safiye sultan. Humashah says Zulfikar is a loyal man of Ahmet, he is only doing his job. Today he mentioned Dervish's name when he was poisoned, perhaps he was behind it. Bulbul says soon we shall find out.
Menekshe is feeding Zulfikar what looks like medicine and Cennet says what are you doing? Menekshe says she is giving something to bring him to consciousness. Cennet says don't - who knows what magic you are using on him. Menekshe says what magic would that be? Cennet says love potions! Go back, I will continue here. Menekshe mumbles as if I need magic, as she leaves.
Handan says we are going through trying times, that is why I have called you - I want peace in my harem. Kosem says yes this is my only wish too. There is a knock and Haci enters, Handan is horrified. Kosem then says if you tell Ahmet the truth, then we will all get peace. Ahmet says what is this truth you are speaking of! Explain at once! Kosem says, my Hunkar, there is a scary truth about Dervish pasha that you must know, right my Sultana? Handan says leave me alone with my son, I want him to hear this from me.
Solomon Efendi is speaking to Dervish saying the villa you have asked me to have built will be completed in a few months, but there is a problem. Dervish says what is it speak? Sol. tells him there is deficit in payments or something similar. He shows the records to Dervish who snorts and then shakes his head.
Handan meanwhile is telling Ahmet with great difficulty that she knew Ahmet's turn was probably next to be executed after his older brother by his father. Ahmet says so what is the secret Kosem is speaking of? Handan says Dervish - the one who has protected you, loved you like his own child - he has committed a big sin to save your life - he poisoned your father. He had to. Ahmet says what...what are you saying mother? Handan says he had to do it my son... Ahmet is horrified.
Dervish meanwhile says so...this is why you have complained about me left and right. Sol. Efendi says I am sorry, I am your servant, I have gotten my wealth by your grace, I only recorded it all in the accounts in case you asked to see it..and he rips up the paper. Dervish says good and then tells him to get out of his sight.
Kosem goes to her room and Cennet says what happened, if Handan will be punished. Kosem says she had to expose Dervish. Cennet asks if this is all she will get, and if Ahmet will not find out about her relationship with Dervish. Kosem says this much is enough. Ahmet's is already dealing with so much right now.
Ahmet has gone to Dervish's room where he's already asleep. He recalls a moment in his childhood where he is hiding behind a tree and Dervish finds him and says I looked everywhere and that his mother will worry, they should return. Ahmet tells Dervish he won't return and shows the broken tesbih (prayer beads) and says it is my father's favourite, he will be angry. Dervish says may I see, and then says do not worry, I can fix these and put it back in it's spot and no one will notice. Ahmet is happy. After the memory, he can't kill Dervish so he leaves. Handan meanwhile is devastated. Haci tries to comfort her.
We hear Dervish's little speech from when Ahmet was going to see ascension ceremony. (we won't re-translate this right now).
Kosem goes to see Ahmet in the morning. It is obvious he has not slept. Kosem says to him, I know it is difficult to be okay after knowing that, but it hurts me to see you like this. He asks how long Kosem knew about it. She says I just found out recently. I wanted Handan sultan to say it. Ahmet says but she chose to protect him. This is why she did that to you. Now I understand everything. This is why Zulfi was poisoned, Mehmet was attacked...all of this to hide it. Kosem says I could not say anything because of the incidents, but I hope it will be comforting - I am pregnant. We will have another child, we will be a big family like we have dreamed.
Dervish is informed that Ahmet has ordered him to go to the Hunting villa.
Meanwhile Kosem asks Ahmet if he isn't pleased by what he heard? He replies of course I am, you have lightened my soul and heart etc. Kosem says God willing we will have another son. He says or a smiling faced Sultana like you. Then he orders sweets and gold to be distributed in the harem and that everyone should hear about Kosem being pregnant.
PART 3
Kosem comes across Alex and she says what has happened to Zulfikar is apparent, we do not know when he will recover. Alex says he was just with him. Kosem says be with Ahmet in his absence,Alex says yes that is why I have come. Kosem says good, please keep your eyes and ears open, our Hunkar is my most precious, my everything, please protect him. Alex says do not worry, may my life be sacrificed in our Hunkar's way. Kosem tells Meliki to look forward and she says he is a very good man, I want to marry him when I grow up - erm, I mean someone like him. Kosem says grow up first.
Ahmet tells Alex they are setting out for hunting and that he is to accompany. Meanwhile, his personal guard says I have brought the sword you asked for.
Meanwhile, Murat tells Mehmet Giray that it is clear the arrow did not pierce the armour. Mehmet says I knew Dervish would attack me so I took my precautions. then he asks what happened to Dervish. Murat says he doesn't know and that if something had happened they would have heard. Mehmet comments that Dervish has fallen into such a pit that the more he flails, the more he will sink, what he has done - there is no pardon for it. Murat tells him that he personally saw Dervish save Ahmet's life in the forest and that he saw how Ahmet worried over him. He adds that Dervish and Ahmet have a father-son bond. Mehmet says do you think he will pardon him? Murat says we shall see.
Ahmet arrives and meets Dervish who says pardon my curiosity but why have you called me here? Ahmet says I wanted to get out of the palace, thought we could talk, walk, hunt a bit - you have no clue about anything do you? Dervish says forgive me I do not know what you speak of. Ahmet says Kosem is pregnant, we shall have another child. Dervish prays for the baby and says he is very pleased to hear this.
He says to Dervish do you remember this sword? Years ago you gifted it to me. There is a flashback and a much younger Ahmet says he cannot do it (attack properly when practicing swordsmanship). Dervish gives him a nice fancy sword and then instructs him.
Back in the present, Ahmet says I have not practiced with you in a long time - what do you say? Like old times? Dervish says it is a great honour and they begin. Ahmet is about to do what he intends but stops and suddenly walks away.
At night, Humashah visits the little shehzades and prays for them to grow up to be like their father. Then she says take care of them, as well as the one in your womb, because they are the future of this dynasty. The meal has been set out and the babies are taken away. Humashah asks where she came from? Cefalonya? Kosem nods and says so much time has passed...it was like a dream... I did not know what tears were, it was always spring there...I was the one and only of my mom, my father;s princess. My father died in my arms, by the order of your mother, Safiye sultan. Then with my Hunkar's permission, I sent a letter - but my mother did not live long. My sister is the only one left, I wanted to bring her to me, but I could not find her. I actually want a daughter this time, a Sultana with an angel face like my own sister. Humashah says whatever is for the best, may it be that.
In the hunting camp, Ahmet says you look happy Alex. Alex says I am near the Padishah what else could I want in life? My Hunkar, let me go get some more fire wood. Dervish says you are sad because of Zulfikar and what happened to Mehmet Giray right? Ahmet says I cannot believe all the things going on around me. I do not know when this storm will pass. Dervish says if there is no winter, will spring have any value? One day winter will pass and spring will come for you.
Handan's servant brings her something to keep her warm, but she refuses and asks where Ahmet is. Her servant says Ahmet has gone hunting and Dervish is with him. Handan says oh is that right? Then when she is alone she mumbles, my son has taken Dervish to take his life...
Ahmet meanwhile asks Dervish, do you think I am a just ruler? Dervish says no doubt you are. Ahmet says I have tried to follow my fore fathers - but in some ways I have tried to do the opposite in regards to somethings especially some of the things my father did. I am still trying. I will never kill my sons or my brother. That night my brother was killed I thought my turn was coming. Dervish says our Lord freed you from this fate thank God. Ahmet asks him what if my father had come to my door (to take my life) what would you have done? Dervish says I would have tried to prevent him. Ahmet says my father was a Padishah dervish! If he said something was to be, it was to be obeyed, how would you prevent it? Dervish says it is true what you say, but I would have given up my life for your sake - this is the greatest honour for me. Ahmet says why Dervish? Why would you go against a Sultan's orders for a Shehzade? Where is your loyalty? Dervish says I am not only tied to you with loyalty, but also with love. Love is more powerful than loyalty. Ahmet says so then...if one day if you love one of my sons more than me...and that love to them clouds your loyalty to me? Dervish says no one knows the future, but I ask only one thing from my Lord - to die as a loyal servant to you.
It is morning and Ahmet has returned with Haci following him into his chambers. He tells Haci to go to the tailors and have them ready the kaftan he ordered for the Divan.
Dervish gets a trim and shave.
Haci tells the tailor that Ahmet wants his kaftan. Haci then sees the red and comments saying oh my Lord, this is a red kaftan!
Meanwhile, Bulbul brings a package for Elizabeth (liver and pigeons). Humashah comments that she eats nothing else right and Bulbul says yes, our sultana's cat does not chase after rats. Then he says I wrote a letter to our Sultana, asking about her health and all that. Who will take you seeing as Zulfy is still in bed rest? Hum answers that the Janissary that guards Safiye. Bulbul says Iskender.
Haci meets Handan in the hall. She asks if Ahmet has returned. Haci says yes he has, there is a Divan. She says is there word from Dervish? He says he has returned. Handan says oh thank God, my son has forgiven him! Haci says my Sultana...forget Dervish pasha, there is no benefit from him to you..he has come to the end of the road. She says what? He shows the kaftan and says our hunkar wants to wear this when attending the Divan - it is clear he has decided, he has not pardoned Dervish.
Humashah gives Alex Elizabeth's package and says give it to Gurbuz, it is somethings for Elizabeth from Bulbul. Then she pulls out the letter but reads it first. "Our sultana, our light, our sun, there is a miracle from God - your son our Shehzade is alive. I have even learned who he is. Your son, our Shehzade - is the one who guards you in your tower - Iskender. Humashah rolls up the letter.
Ahmet is being dressed in the beautiful red Kaftan. We see that dervish is also looking at himself in the mirror as he prepares for the Divan.
Haci runs to Handan and says do not prevent - Dervish's outcome is apaprent. She says get out of my way.
Meanwhile, Humashah goes to see her mother who greets her and they embrace. She says tell me what news have you brought from the palace. Come sit.
Haci tells Kosem about the red kaftan and that his intentions are obvious. Kosem asks what that means. Cennet says he will execute someone in the Divan. Kosem says Dervish pasha! Haci informs her that Handan knows about it and has gone off probably to try and speak to Dervish and prevent it, probably tell Dervish to run away. Cennet says what shall we do? Kosem says, nothing. After Ahmet has given his order, no matter where he runs it is useless.
Handan finds Dervish. He greets her and asks if something happened. She says this is my first and last - he says what this means. She says "shhh, listen to me. hear me and know that this burden is very heavy. I couldn't carry it. You...you...you are the sky. You are freedom. I am an eternally caged Sultana. My feelings are a path that has no destination ...they are a bottomless well. And know that, know that I will walk that path until the end. I, will go into that well, enter the tomb until I am forgotten.." An agha informs Dervish it is time to go. She says go now. Go now. He says my sultana.
Dervish and Ahmet both make their way down to the Divan area. Murat and Dervish greet each other as Ahmet watches him. Dervish hasn't even seen the kaftan yet. Ahmet is announced and enters the hall. Everyone then sees the red kaftan.
Handan enters the harem making her way to her room.
Ahmet says Dervish Pasha! The people's complaints have reached my throne! You have taken bribes! you have collected unjustified taxes and left the poor in a difficult state! You have not paid off the cost of the jewelry that you purchased from the Jewish jeweller and you have not paid off your debts. Dervish says all this is slander, I can explain! Ahmet whispers I know everything Dervish. I know about your betrayal." Aghas! The aghas rush foward and grab Dervish who tries to move forward and says my Hunkar! let go of me (to the aghas). Then to Ahmet: I did not betray you, I would never betray you. Ahmet recalls Dervish's last wish last time saying "I want to die by your hands, not the executioners." So as he is about to be strangled, Ahmet grabs his sword (btw, this is said to be the P Prophet's sword passed to down from Sultan to Sultan, it is carried by his guards at all times, everywhere he goes, the sheath is obviously made later) and stabs him right in the heart. And whispers "you did not just kill my father, but you killed a Padishah!

Murat Pasha says that red is the most beautiful hue from amongst the colours of flowers, and also the the colour of the warrior's spilled blood on the battlefield - the colour of death.
Ahmet is being dressed in it. Murat is speaking saying that only the Padishah may wear a fully red kaftan, because the red kaftan is the mark of a ruler, and also that of death. If our mighty Hunkar enters the Divan with a red kaftan - then that day a traitor will certainly be put to death. For this reason, if the things you say are true - and if Dervish Pasha is the murderer of our deceased Padishah, then our Sultan wearing that red kaftan will happen soon. Mehmet says don't worry, sooner or later the truth will come out.
Handan keeps saying she did nothing and Humashah calls for the aghas who enter and Humashah says you are in big trouble, pray nothing happens, hurry and help.
Kosem is being taken out on a stretcher. Haci goes to see Handan and asks what has she done. Handan says I had no choice, Kosem would tell Ahmet everything, she said I have a witness. Humashah arrives to see Ahmet. Meanwhile Cennet rushes to see how Kosem is and asks what happened. The women say they do not know, she has just been brought to them now.
Handan says I have kept a snake with me, you were going to stab me in my back with a dagger is that right?! Haci says whatever I do, is for your sake, to protect you. Handan says you were going to get together with my enemy, witness against me and this was going to be for my sake?! This is betrayal! Haci says Dervish pasha is a murderer, he cannot be saved and if you continue protecting him, you will also become part of the same calamity. You have an opportunity right now. Zulfikar tells Dervish that he knows that this (Kosem's injury) is because of his dirty secrets. When Dervish asks what secrets? Zulfikar says myself and Kosem, we both know about your secrets from the past. Zulfikar says I know that you poisoned our deceased Padishah. Dervish responds by saying Mehmet Giray has poisoned your minds against me, how can you believe that fools lies? And if you did believe, how dare you accuse me! I hope you have some proof!
Ahmet asks Haci where his mother is. Handan is begging God for help when her son arrives. Meanwhile, Zulfikar speaks to Dervish and says of course there is evidence but you destroyed it! Dervish says this is all mere lies without proof to back it up! Zulfikar says have you not gotten rid of Reyhan for this very reason?! Is that not true?! Do you not want rid of Mehmet Giray?! Is that not why you are sending him to Crimea?! Admit to your crime! Dervish says you imbecile, who are you to dare to speak to me this way?! I will make you pay the price for this insolence!
Ahmet rushes through and Halime comments that Ahmet is angry.
Ahmet asks Handan what happened. Handan says it is not my fault my son, Kosem crossed her limits, she cursed me and tried to attack me, and I merely defended myself.
Meanwhile, Kosem wakes up and says her head hurts and Haci says I don't know how to say it...Cennet says speak. Haci says Handan knows I am your witness, and she wants me silent. I do not fear her, but if Dervish finds this out, he will want to take my life. Kosem says do not be fear, they have both come to the end of their lines. Haci says no, you promised Handan would not come to any harm. Kosem says I will keep my promise, will you?
Ahmet asks Handan why Kosem would do such a thing. Handan gets angry and says basically it's all about Kosem, I am your mother! Do my words have no value to you? Ahmet says answer my question! Handan says I caught Halime meeting Mustafa and the one who arranged all this was Kosem, I called her to warn her. This is the truth. Ahmet says let her come to her senses, let us see what she will say. Handan says yeah right, she will deny it all and blame me.
Bulbul asks Humashah how Safiye is. Humashah says she is fine, but I saw in her eyes there are deep wounds, but she is not regretful, she does not accept her mistakes. She blames everyone except herself, just like you. Humashah says I wonder what Kosem says or did that made Humashah behave like that...I want to find out exactly what happened.
Gurbuz asks Alex where he was all day and that Safiye asked for him. When he enters, she says our Hunkar chose this tower for a reason, so that night and day I can watch the palace and see my old magnificent life and feel more pain. It hurts its true, but it gives me the strength to keep going because every glance of mine gives me the hope of returning. Alex says the only way you can return is for our Hunkar to forgive you, and it doesn't look possible right now, but, we do not know what will happen in the future. She says Iskender, if I ask something of you will you do it? Alex says it depends on what you want.
Ahmet goes to see Kosem and asks how she is and if there is pain. She says her head hurts. He says can you tell me what happened because my mother says you attacked when she tried to warn you because she found out about Halime visiting Mustafa. Kosem says I was worried about Mustafa was not well, I was afraid he'd become ill, that is why I let his mother visit him once in a while. Ahmet says so my mother was right. Kosem says but that was a matter from before, it had nothing to do with the incident and I never attacked her, would I ever do such a thing? Ahmet says then tell me what was the matter. Kosem says forgive me, but it is important that Handan sultan tell you that. Today or tomorrow, she will finally tell you.
Cennet tells Kosem she should not have gotten up and kept resting. Kosem says no time to waste. Cennet wonders if they can trust Haci.
Kosem arrives to see Handan who says why have you come, to threaten me? Kosem tells Handan that the burden of the secrets she carries must be weighing heavy on her because there is no explanation for what she did (i.e. hitting her). Handan tells her not to waste her breath because Ahmet hasn't believed her lies and accusations and she doesn't have a witness anyway. Kosem says I have not told anything to Ahmet, but when I do, Haci will be with me, right Haci? Haci says that is true.
Safiye meanwhile has been brought Elizabeth and she tells the lady who brings her to be careful and the woman behaves even ruder. Then she says in front of Alex, ugh, all that was left was a cat! Alex warns her not to be disrespectful because no matter what she is dealing with a Sultana.
Handan says to Kosem, why have you come then? Say whatever you want! Kosem says I will not be telling Ahmet, you will be telling him about Dervish being the murderer. Handan says you want his death to be at my hands eh? Kosem says yes, this will be your punishment. If you do not tell our Hunkar, then it won't only be that that is exposed, but we shall also say that he is in love with you. Haci says to Handan, please heed what Kosem says, otherwise there is no other way. Let Dervish get what he deserves! Why should you be burnt as well, think of the Dynasty! Handan tells Dervish that Haci has betrayed. Dervish says that everyone is against us, Zulfikar also knows and threatened me with it. Handan says Kosem wants me to expose you or she will expose that you love me, I accepted to buy some time, but I will not do it. I will never betray you. Dervish says thanks but the sins are my own - if someone is to pay - it should be me. I will go and admit everything to our Hunkar. Handan says no, never! Kosem wakes up sick and vomiting, she asks for a bowl and Meleki is sent for doctors. Haci is being chased. Mehmet Giray is given the letter he must take to Crimea. Zulfikar is told Ahmet has gone with Dervish in plainclothes to the market and then he is told that his meal is ready.
Dervish and Ahmet go through the market and Ahmet expresses how he needed to get out like this. Dervish says we can also go soon to the architect about your Mosque plans.
Haci is caught. Mehmet Giray is shot with an arrow. Menekshe sees when Haci is being taken away and escapes to tell Halime.
Zulfikar finds out Humashah has come to see him and starts fixing his hair in the reflection of the spoon and then suddenly wonders what he is doing and says "what am I doing!?" He welcomes Humashah who says she wanted to give word that she wishes to visit her mother, but it seems it is a bad time. Zulfikar says no, don't worry - but then he starts choking.
Cennet asks kosem what she has eaten and and to drink and then says they have poisoned the water! Poisoned you!
Humashah rushes to Zulfikar and then calls for aghas who advise doctors be called but she says there is no time and says the poison must be forced out of his body or he will die. She gathers the ashes and asks for water and tells them to hurry up and pass the water, call aghas etc. She says hold Zulfikar, hold on! please hold on!
Meanwhile Ahmet visits a textile merchant and is pleased with what he sees, when he asks how work goes, the man says the merchants are worried, Dervish is a big trouble for them. The people are unhappy. He grabs everything from them (in the form of taxes).
The doctors arrive and are told Kosem is poisoned.
Humashah asks for the funnel but no one has come yet so she uses paper and pours the ash and water mixture into his mouth repeatedly.
Halime has come to see Kosem and says it is urgent. Cennet tells them kosem has been poisoned. Halime says it is obvious timing - Haci has been taken.
We see Haci who has been brought before Handan. She says I wanted to speak to you for the last time, for the sake of the many years together.
The merchants tell each other hide the money, hide it so Dervish doesn't see. One of them tells Ahmet that Dervish is rumoured taking bribe after bribe. Ahmet asks what "Sultan Ahmet says" The men say our Sultan has been attacked from four corners he probably has no idea, maybe if the people come to his doors shouting for justice he will find out and then they add if anyone is to save them it is Kosem Sultan - they heard her doings - she is called the angel with human face. He says she used her own wealth and gave it to Hudai to distribute. The guy then comments, my Bey you have no idea of all the goings on in the world!
Kosem is examined.
Haci tells Handan to stop please. Handan says whatever Dervish did was to protect him. Haci says how can you trust him? He could one day kill Ahmet. Handan says it is obvious Haci, you have gone to Kosem's side long ago. Then she gives the order to the aghas. Haci says, let me pray two rakats (parts) of prayer, then you can take my life.
Menekshe asks what they are going to do and Halime says what is necessary! (save Haci).
Kosem is told she is pregnant.
Cennet finds Humasha who tells her that he has been poisoned, she has done everything she could but - just then he throws it all up.

Ahmet returns to the palace asking Dervish what the merchant issues are and Dervish says I have not taken a single coin for myself, all the money has been put in the treasury. Murat pasha arrives and says that the Austrian delegation is insisting on their conditions. Dervish expresses his annoyance. Murat says I have done everything I can, maybe you should speak to them, let's see if you can change their minds! Ahmet says enough, come with me.
Two men approach Bulbul saying Nasuh has sent them. They ask what their job is. Bulbul says don't ask me questions, just do whatever I say.
Safiye meanwhile doesn't like the bath water that is poured out for her saying it is cold and asks for hot water. The servant mocks her saying would you like me to bring milk for you wash yourself in? Safiye tells her to do what she says. The servant says do you still think of yourself as a Sultana? That era is over. Safiye calls her impudent and then beats her up.
Selahettin Efendi arrives and Bulbul asks which one is the lost prince. Selahettin says he has not arrived yet, but then notices Alex enter and points to him. Bulbul is in disbelief and says are you sure it is Iskender? Selah. says yes I am certain, he's the one who brought the shirt and he has the mark on his back. Bulbul says Oh my God! He has been right before our very eyes and we never noticed! He looks like our Sultana actually.
Safiye is strangling the servant saying what do you think you are. Gurbuz intervenes. Safiye shouts, get out!
Selahettin is about to get up to speak to Alex and bulbul stops him, then asks if anyone else knows. then he tells the two men standing there to escort Selahettin Efendi out (poor man has no idea.)
Kosem wonders where Cennet is and then Cennet arrives who informs her that not only is Haci missing, but Zulfi has been poisoned.
Meanwhile, Ahmet tells Murat that he should send word to the delegates that they agree to the terms. Murat is pleased and adds then we can go get the Celalis. Dervish speaks up and asks Ahmet for permission to speak to the delegates instead to try and convince them. Ahmet says no, it is enough, the time has come to gather all our strength. Dervish says then let us ensure they will keep their word on their side and to pay the amount agreed to pay. Ahmet is then told that Zulfikar has been poisoned.
Cennet is telling Kosem about Humashah saving Zulfikar's life and Kosem wonders what Humashah was doing there to begin with. Cennet says she does not know.
Kosem comes across Handan and says Haci is missing, they say he has been killed and Zulfikar has been poisoned. Handan says I heard, Mehmet Giray has also been killed by someone. Kosem says you have silenced everyone, but how will you silence me? Handan says my son will be having dinner with me tonight, you should come as well and say whatever you want to say to him, but just now that no one listens to your poisonous lies. Kosem says you and Dervish will not get away with this, Ahmet will take you to account. Handan says yes he will, but not from us, he will assume it is Safiye sultan. Alex sees that Selahettin Efendi is dead. A man tells him no one knows what happened but that this is how he was found by a neighbour. Alex says I was going to meet him but when he didn't arrive...the man says it is God's will, we do not know when it knocks at our door.
Ahmet asks Dervish what is going on since both Mehmet Giray and Zulfi have been attacked at the same time. Dervish says Safiye sultan, who else could it be? he says that both Zulfi and Mehmet Giray have prevented her from achieving her goals.
Kosem finds Haci who says "Halime sultan found me in the last moment" Kosem thanks Halime saying you have saved us from big trouble! halime says she hopes it will benefit and Kosem says it will.
Ahmet asks why Handan has called him. She says I called you to say we must be one together. I called Kosem too, to end the trouble between us, but she has not come. Ahmet says but Kosem did not accept your version of the story (when she hit kosem), she says you would be able to say what it was about. Handan says of course she would deny everything. Just then Kosem arrives. Handan says we were waiting for you, finally you came. Kosem says sorry I was busy with my princes.
Bulbul is talking to himself saying he wishes he could give the good news to his Sultana. Humashah sneaks up on him and says what news? He quickly says nothing, just that her enemies are now fighting amongst themselves. Humashah says today Zulfikar almost died. Hopefully he recovers. Bulbul says I heard, but forgive me, I wish you had left him so he could have got what he deserved. As you know he worked with Kosem against Safiye sultan. Humashah says Zulfikar is a loyal man of Ahmet, he is only doing his job. Today he mentioned Dervish's name when he was poisoned, perhaps he was behind it. Bulbul says soon we shall find out.
Menekshe is feeding Zulfikar what looks like medicine and Cennet says what are you doing? Menekshe says she is giving something to bring him to consciousness. Cennet says don't - who knows what magic you are using on him. Menekshe says what magic would that be? Cennet says love potions! Go back, I will continue here. Menekshe mumbles as if I need magic, as she leaves.
Handan says we are going through trying times, that is why I have called you - I want peace in my harem. Kosem says yes this is my only wish too. There is a knock and Haci enters, Handan is horrified. Kosem then says if you tell Ahmet the truth, then we will all get peace. Ahmet says what is this truth you are speaking of! Explain at once! Kosem says, my Hunkar, there is a scary truth about Dervish pasha that you must know, right my Sultana? Handan says leave me alone with my son, I want him to hear this from me.
Solomon Efendi is speaking to Dervish saying the villa you have asked me to have built will be completed in a few months, but there is a problem. Dervish says what is it speak? Sol. tells him there is deficit in payments or something similar. He shows the records to Dervish who snorts and then shakes his head.
Handan meanwhile is telling Ahmet with great difficulty that she knew Ahmet's turn was probably next to be executed after his older brother by his father. Ahmet says so what is the secret Kosem is speaking of? Handan says Dervish - the one who has protected you, loved you like his own child - he has committed a big sin to save your life - he poisoned your father. He had to. Ahmet says what...what are you saying mother? Handan says he had to do it my son... Ahmet is horrified.
Dervish meanwhile says so...this is why you have complained about me left and right. Sol. Efendi says I am sorry, I am your servant, I have gotten my wealth by your grace, I only recorded it all in the accounts in case you asked to see it..and he rips up the paper. Dervish says good and then tells him to get out of his sight.
Kosem goes to her room and Cennet says what happened, if Handan will be punished. Kosem says she had to expose Dervish. Cennet asks if this is all she will get, and if Ahmet will not find out about her relationship with Dervish. Kosem says this much is enough. Ahmet's is already dealing with so much right now.
Ahmet has gone to Dervish's room where he's already asleep. He recalls a moment in his childhood where he is hiding behind a tree and Dervish finds him and says I looked everywhere and that his mother will worry, they should return. Ahmet tells Dervish he won't return and shows the broken tesbih (prayer beads) and says it is my father's favourite, he will be angry. Dervish says may I see, and then says do not worry, I can fix these and put it back in it's spot and no one will notice. Ahmet is happy. After the memory, he can't kill Dervish so he leaves. Handan meanwhile is devastated. Haci tries to comfort her.
We hear Dervish's little speech from when Ahmet was going to see ascension ceremony. (we won't re-translate this right now).
Kosem goes to see Ahmet in the morning. It is obvious he has not slept. Kosem says to him, I know it is difficult to be okay after knowing that, but it hurts me to see you like this. He asks how long Kosem knew about it. She says I just found out recently. I wanted Handan sultan to say it. Ahmet says but she chose to protect him. This is why she did that to you. Now I understand everything. This is why Zulfi was poisoned, Mehmet was attacked...all of this to hide it. Kosem says I could not say anything because of the incidents, but I hope it will be comforting - I am pregnant. We will have another child, we will be a big family like we have dreamed.
Dervish is informed that Ahmet has ordered him to go to the Hunting villa.
Meanwhile Kosem asks Ahmet if he isn't pleased by what he heard? He replies of course I am, you have lightened my soul and heart etc. Kosem says God willing we will have another son. He says or a smiling faced Sultana like you. Then he orders sweets and gold to be distributed in the harem and that everyone should hear about Kosem being pregnant.

Kosem comes across Alex and she says what has happened to Zulfikar is apparent, we do not know when he will recover. Alex says he was just with him. Kosem says be with Ahmet in his absence,Alex says yes that is why I have come. Kosem says good, please keep your eyes and ears open, our Hunkar is my most precious, my everything, please protect him. Alex says do not worry, may my life be sacrificed in our Hunkar's way. Kosem tells Meliki to look forward and she says he is a very good man, I want to marry him when I grow up - erm, I mean someone like him. Kosem says grow up first.
Ahmet tells Alex they are setting out for hunting and that he is to accompany. Meanwhile, his personal guard says I have brought the sword you asked for.
Meanwhile, Murat tells Mehmet Giray that it is clear the arrow did not pierce the armour. Mehmet says I knew Dervish would attack me so I took my precautions. then he asks what happened to Dervish. Murat says he doesn't know and that if something had happened they would have heard. Mehmet comments that Dervish has fallen into such a pit that the more he flails, the more he will sink, what he has done - there is no pardon for it. Murat tells him that he personally saw Dervish save Ahmet's life in the forest and that he saw how Ahmet worried over him. He adds that Dervish and Ahmet have a father-son bond. Mehmet says do you think he will pardon him? Murat says we shall see.
Ahmet arrives and meets Dervish who says pardon my curiosity but why have you called me here? Ahmet says I wanted to get out of the palace, thought we could talk, walk, hunt a bit - you have no clue about anything do you? Dervish says forgive me I do not know what you speak of. Ahmet says Kosem is pregnant, we shall have another child. Dervish prays for the baby and says he is very pleased to hear this.
He says to Dervish do you remember this sword? Years ago you gifted it to me. There is a flashback and a much younger Ahmet says he cannot do it (attack properly when practicing swordsmanship). Dervish gives him a nice fancy sword and then instructs him.
Back in the present, Ahmet says I have not practiced with you in a long time - what do you say? Like old times? Dervish says it is a great honour and they begin. Ahmet is about to do what he intends but stops and suddenly walks away.
At night, Humashah visits the little shehzades and prays for them to grow up to be like their father. Then she says take care of them, as well as the one in your womb, because they are the future of this dynasty. The meal has been set out and the babies are taken away. Humashah asks where she came from? Cefalonya? Kosem nods and says so much time has passed...it was like a dream... I did not know what tears were, it was always spring there...I was the one and only of my mom, my father;s princess. My father died in my arms, by the order of your mother, Safiye sultan. Then with my Hunkar's permission, I sent a letter - but my mother did not live long. My sister is the only one left, I wanted to bring her to me, but I could not find her. I actually want a daughter this time, a Sultana with an angel face like my own sister. Humashah says whatever is for the best, may it be that.
In the hunting camp, Ahmet says you look happy Alex. Alex says I am near the Padishah what else could I want in life? My Hunkar, let me go get some more fire wood. Dervish says you are sad because of Zulfikar and what happened to Mehmet Giray right? Ahmet says I cannot believe all the things going on around me. I do not know when this storm will pass. Dervish says if there is no winter, will spring have any value? One day winter will pass and spring will come for you.
Handan's servant brings her something to keep her warm, but she refuses and asks where Ahmet is. Her servant says Ahmet has gone hunting and Dervish is with him. Handan says oh is that right? Then when she is alone she mumbles, my son has taken Dervish to take his life...
Ahmet meanwhile asks Dervish, do you think I am a just ruler? Dervish says no doubt you are. Ahmet says I have tried to follow my fore fathers - but in some ways I have tried to do the opposite in regards to somethings especially some of the things my father did. I am still trying. I will never kill my sons or my brother. That night my brother was killed I thought my turn was coming. Dervish says our Lord freed you from this fate thank God. Ahmet asks him what if my father had come to my door (to take my life) what would you have done? Dervish says I would have tried to prevent him. Ahmet says my father was a Padishah dervish! If he said something was to be, it was to be obeyed, how would you prevent it? Dervish says it is true what you say, but I would have given up my life for your sake - this is the greatest honour for me. Ahmet says why Dervish? Why would you go against a Sultan's orders for a Shehzade? Where is your loyalty? Dervish says I am not only tied to you with loyalty, but also with love. Love is more powerful than loyalty. Ahmet says so then...if one day if you love one of my sons more than me...and that love to them clouds your loyalty to me? Dervish says no one knows the future, but I ask only one thing from my Lord - to die as a loyal servant to you.
It is morning and Ahmet has returned with Haci following him into his chambers. He tells Haci to go to the tailors and have them ready the kaftan he ordered for the Divan.
Dervish gets a trim and shave.
Haci tells the tailor that Ahmet wants his kaftan. Haci then sees the red and comments saying oh my Lord, this is a red kaftan!
Meanwhile, Bulbul brings a package for Elizabeth (liver and pigeons). Humashah comments that she eats nothing else right and Bulbul says yes, our sultana's cat does not chase after rats. Then he says I wrote a letter to our Sultana, asking about her health and all that. Who will take you seeing as Zulfy is still in bed rest? Hum answers that the Janissary that guards Safiye. Bulbul says Iskender.
Haci meets Handan in the hall. She asks if Ahmet has returned. Haci says yes he has, there is a Divan. She says is there word from Dervish? He says he has returned. Handan says oh thank God, my son has forgiven him! Haci says my Sultana...forget Dervish pasha, there is no benefit from him to you..he has come to the end of the road. She says what? He shows the kaftan and says our hunkar wants to wear this when attending the Divan - it is clear he has decided, he has not pardoned Dervish.
Humashah gives Alex Elizabeth's package and says give it to Gurbuz, it is somethings for Elizabeth from Bulbul. Then she pulls out the letter but reads it first. "Our sultana, our light, our sun, there is a miracle from God - your son our Shehzade is alive. I have even learned who he is. Your son, our Shehzade - is the one who guards you in your tower - Iskender. Humashah rolls up the letter.
Ahmet is being dressed in the beautiful red Kaftan. We see that dervish is also looking at himself in the mirror as he prepares for the Divan.
Haci runs to Handan and says do not prevent - Dervish's outcome is apaprent. She says get out of my way.
Meanwhile, Humashah goes to see her mother who greets her and they embrace. She says tell me what news have you brought from the palace. Come sit.
Haci tells Kosem about the red kaftan and that his intentions are obvious. Kosem asks what that means. Cennet says he will execute someone in the Divan. Kosem says Dervish pasha! Haci informs her that Handan knows about it and has gone off probably to try and speak to Dervish and prevent it, probably tell Dervish to run away. Cennet says what shall we do? Kosem says, nothing. After Ahmet has given his order, no matter where he runs it is useless.
Handan finds Dervish. He greets her and asks if something happened. She says this is my first and last - he says what this means. She says "shhh, listen to me. hear me and know that this burden is very heavy. I couldn't carry it. You...you...you are the sky. You are freedom. I am an eternally caged Sultana. My feelings are a path that has no destination ...they are a bottomless well. And know that, know that I will walk that path until the end. I, will go into that well, enter the tomb until I am forgotten.." An agha informs Dervish it is time to go. She says go now. Go now. He says my sultana.
Dervish and Ahmet both make their way down to the Divan area. Murat and Dervish greet each other as Ahmet watches him. Dervish hasn't even seen the kaftan yet. Ahmet is announced and enters the hall. Everyone then sees the red kaftan.
Handan enters the harem making her way to her room.
Ahmet says Dervish Pasha! The people's complaints have reached my throne! You have taken bribes! you have collected unjustified taxes and left the poor in a difficult state! You have not paid off the cost of the jewelry that you purchased from the Jewish jeweller and you have not paid off your debts. Dervish says all this is slander, I can explain! Ahmet whispers I know everything Dervish. I know about your betrayal." Aghas! The aghas rush foward and grab Dervish who tries to move forward and says my Hunkar! let go of me (to the aghas). Then to Ahmet: I did not betray you, I would never betray you. Ahmet recalls Dervish's last wish last time saying "I want to die by your hands, not the executioners." So as he is about to be strangled, Ahmet grabs his sword (btw, this is said to be the P Prophet's sword passed to down from Sultan to Sultan, it is carried by his guards at all times, everywhere he goes, the sheath is obviously made later) and stabs him right in the heart. And whispers "you did not just kill my father, but you killed a Padishah!

Kosem Sultan Episode 17
(Hi everyone, I have been very ill in bed and still am not well and on bed rest, I decided to try and do a small summary sitting up in bed and being medicated, so here it is, it is as much as I can do, and will be very short. thank you so much for your patience during this time)
Alex saves Kosem. Halime comments that Handan has no idea she has thrown herself in the fire. Handan finds a letter that says " I know who you met in the pearl palace and that you will pay the price for your sin." She asks for Haci at once. Dervish scolds Haci saying I can meet with whoever I want as head of the state, and whoever finds other meanings in those meetings I can deal with them. Kosem is saved, the little girl's mother has died so Kosem takes her in. Handan speaks to Haci about the letter.
Safiye knows that gurbuz agha was the one in the old palace betraying her and he tells her that the letter has been sent to Humashah , Safiye wishes her daughter would hurry and come already.Kosem has told Ahmet and Dervish what happened to her and they suspect Safiye. Zulfy and Alex greet each other. Zulfy offers condolences to Kosem and the little girl Meleki. Kosem thanks Alex saying it is twice now he has saved her life and what a coincidence. Alex says maybe it is fate making our paths cross again. Haci tries to find who heard Handan and Dervish and finds an earring.
Ahmet comments that for sure Safiye is somehow in contact with someone who does her work for her on the outside. They want to replace the guard watching over her with someone they completely trust and to find out how she is communcating to someone on the outside and who that person is. Cennet tells Kosem Meleki has been put in a room then tells her that Handan found a letter and it made her very pale with worry.
Haci tells Handan about the earring belonging to whoever must have eavesdropped on her and Dervish. She says they must warn Dervish too.
Kosem has told Cennet about Mehmet Giray telling her (ending of episode 16) about Dervish being Ahmet's father's murderer. Cennet tells her to not get involved in this. Kosem doesnt listen. Meanwhile, Mehmet has spoken to Reyhan and told him that he told Kosem.
Ahmet tells Alex that as he has very few people he can trust around him.
Haci finds out whose earring it is - Kosem's servant girl (Menekshe is watching them and we know that Menekshe has planted the earring there). Kosem asks Bulbul who is helping Safiye and tries to convince him by saying that Safiye is cruel, only caring for power. Bulbul tells her that everyone
starts off innocently seeking power to protect their loved ones, but power ends up destroying innocence. Menekshe informs Halime about her trick with the earring and that now Handan will go at Kosem because she will think she was the one who heard about Dervish's love for Handan. Halime comments let them go at each other.
Handan informs Dervish thatKosem has heard everything in the pearl mansion and is threatening them, she says what can we do? Dervish says there is nothing she can prove.
Ahmet tells Kosem that she hashis permission to see Mustafa too, just like she has loved Osman as her own she has permission to give love to Mustafa too.
Haci tells Kosem Handan has to see her so she goes. Cennet finds out Kosem's servant girl is in the bath and she sets off to find her. Handan scolds Kosem for going out of the palace. Then she confronts Kosem saying you do not respect me or anyone or bow to them. Cennet finds a girl dead in the bath. Handan says I know you have set a trap for Dervish and myself, you want to get rid of us both this way. Kosem says why would I want to do that ? Handan tells her I warn you for the last time do not test my patience. Kosem says she doesn't know what she is talking about and what have I done tell me. Haci enters and tells them about Kosem's servant having killed a girl in the hamam. Kosem arrives and Eycan tells her I am innocent that the other girl attacked her and to please help. Handan is secretly happy and says to Haci this is better Eycan will be executed for this and no one can suspect us. Kosem arrives and says is this how you threaten me? Then she says the girl tried to kill Eycan, she only tried to protect herself, someone had sent her to kill Eycan, if you dare, next time send someone to do me! Ahmet has overheard and tells Kosem to return to her room.
Handan tells Ahmet that I was simply warning Kosem to be careful and you saw, she is very rude and doesn't follow manner or tradition! Ahmet says yes, Kosem must not disrespect you, but you must also respect her, she is precious to me. Handan says oh so I must live to hear this...she is more precious than me ? Ahmet says I do not compare you with anyone...the same as I do not compare her with anyone. All I want is peace in my harem.
Cennet tells Kosem that Eycan is imprisoned and will be executed. Kosem says Handan has crossed the limit of my patience, and she doesn't know what is going on, maybe all this is to make everyone enemies - Cennet says yes exactly so don't go tomorrow to meet Mehmet Giray, just let this matter go. Kosem basically says no, I will go to find the truth.
Kosem goes to meet Mehmet. Meanwhile Dervish is with other pashas in a Divan session. Kosem sees Reyhan come out of the shadows. Dervish meanwhile is saying he is not like other grand viziers, he will not deal with mistakes or crimes like bribery lightly. Reyhan tells Kosem about the time when Dervish worked with him and Shahin - Shahin wanted to take the throne and reyhan and Dervish would become his viziers and so they poisoned Ahmet's father slowly. But afterwards Ahmet got on the throne and Dervish rose the ranks and turned his backs on us and tried to rid of us. Kosem asks if he can relate all this to Ahmet. Reyhan says first I need you to get a promise that my life will be spared and I will get money to live off of. Kosem tells Mehmet Ahmet will find out about Dervish's doings.
Ahmet tells Alex that he needs people around him like Zul and Dervish and then tells Zulfikar to tell him his new duty.
Cennet has come to take Eycan. Safiye meanwhile finds a note in her bread that Nasuh has written to her iforming her that they were unable to kill Kosem.
Safiye is told that Alex is the new guard. She says where do I know you from? He says I used to come to practice with our Hunkar. Then he says she cannot speak to anyone else other than him. She says okay then say when my daughter comes will she be visiting me? Alex says if Ahmet sees it fit.
Zulfy tells Eycan that the crime is execution and there were no witnesses, but Cennet says she is witness the other girl had attacked Eycan first. Zulfy calls for the Quran to be brought so she can swear on it that she is speaking the truth.
Dervish is told by a minion of his that they have found Reyhan and that Kosem was also with Mehmet Giray to see Reyhan. Kosem meanwhille goes to see Zulfy and says I need to speak to you about Dervish.
Haci tells Handan that Eycan is spared because Cennet served as witness for her. Zulfikar meanwhile tells Kosem after she has told him about Dervish being involved in Ahmet's father's murder that Dervish will not be able to get out of this if it is true.
Handan scolds Cennet and tries to threaten her with taking her new rank away but Cennet reminds her only Ahmet can do that.
Reyhan is taken and meanwhile Kosem is comforting Meleki when Cennet enters and says she feels bad for giving false witness, a big sin, and Kosem says you did to save an innocent life, and don't worry, pray to God, help the poor and give some charity to atone for it.
(I am skipping the Divan stuff mostly, but just saying that Murat wants to have the treaty with the Austrian delegation and they should agree to the terms, but Dervish and Ahmet say no, Ahmet says but do call on the delegation so we can meet with them. )
Mehmet leads Zulfikar to the place Reyhan is hiding, but he is gone and they realize it must be Dervish. We see Dervish killing Reyhan.
Halime tells Cennet she is glad Eycan has been saved and Cennet says I have come to tell you that Kosem is waiting for you where Mustafa is staying.
Dervish informs Handan that he has rid of Reyhan, but now he worries about Kosem because she now knows everything as Reyhan has already exposed the other secret to her.
Kosem meanwhile tell Halime she has brought her to secretly let her visit her son but that no one must know about it, that she does this for Mustafa's sake not Halime's. Halime prays for Kosem saying may God never separate you from your children! And hugs her. Mustafa wonders if it is a dream he is seeing his mother.
Kosem goes to see Zulfikar who tells her that Reyhan has disappeared and that they looked everywhere. Kosem comments that someone has prevented him from speaking (Dervish). Dervish later asks Kosem that she meets Zulfikar a lot these days and she says yes these days we are looking for traitors these days. Dervish says let me know so I can deal with it. She says I was entrusted to you for protecting by our Hunkar but just last night my closest servant was attacked. Dervish says that is a harem matter our Valide Sultan will deal with it the best way I am sure. She says how will she protect me while she is threatening me I wonder? Are you two getting together against me? Dervish says if you see everyone as an enemy you will one day see the whole world against you! She says I don't care if the whole world goes against me as long as my sons and my Hunkar are with me!
Ahmet and Kosem are talking she comments that perhaps it is good to sign the treaty with Austria even if they don't like the conditions but this way they can go after the traitors better and that what is the value of what is written on paper over your throne being threatened?
Bulbul finds out Humasha's ship has docked. Kosem asks Cennet who this Humasha is that everyone is so worried. Cennet describes her saying she is Safiye's eldest daughter, very beautiful, very intelligent, married to the Beylerbey of Egypt. She can speak many languages, learned in art, music, poetry etc. and even Safiye sultan shies from her. Kosem says just say that one goes and another takes their place.
Humasha arrives. Meanwhile, Alex finds the method of communication between Safiye and the outside world through bread.
Kosem has not made it to greet Humasha because the princes are crying and Humasha is told this when she asks about her.
Alex catches Safiye rapidly ripping through the bread to find a note and says were you looking for this? She says you learned my secret then. He says you will not get any word from outside from now. Oh and, whoever sent this note is saying that your daughter has arrived in the Capitol.
Humashah is told by Bulbul that even Elizabeth has been sent to the old palace.
Zulfikar is somehow stunned by Humasha, it seems they either must know each other and love each other, or he is suddenly smitten by her. Zulfikar asks how she knows his name and past and Bulbul says she is Humashah she keeps informed about everything.
Ahmet and Handan greet Humashah and they tell her she can rest, her room is prepared. She has brought coins and gifts for the harem girls and Cennet comments how generous she is. Kosem arrives and is told that she can visit her later to her room.
Alex informs zulfy about the letters entering through the bread and that they have taken necessary precautions but they do not know who the letter was being sent to.
Kosem says to Alex that she heard he is in charge of Safiye now and he says yes, don't worry I will not let her hurt you anymore. Meleki thanks him for saving her that day.
Halime goes to visit Mustafa. Kosem goes to visit Humashah. Halime tells Mustafa she has to go, despite his insistence and tells to be patient until the day she can have him with her again. She ensures him she will come tomorrow again and the day after that and the day after. etc.
Kosem explains why she couldn't greet Humasha earlier and Hum says you are right, our princes are the most important, but did I hear wrong, I thought you only had one son? Kosem explains how she looks after Osman too. Hum says I will want to meet them soon. Kosem says sure, I do not want to keep you from resting any longer I will see you later and leaves.
Halime is caught by Haci as she is leaving Mustafa's room.
Kosem comments to Bulbul that Humasha is warm and friendly and perhaps she will be friends unlike how it went with her mother.
Humashah says to Bulbul basically how dare Kosem not greet me, and how she dares to keep Osman in her room, and has everyone bowed to her? Bulbul says well, since your mother left the harem order has broken and Hum says do not worry, we shall set the order straight again!
Handan scolds Halime how dare you visit him for days now when you are not even allowed to be near him! But it's over you and Kosem shall answer to Ahmet for disobeying him. Halime says it is not Kosem's fault. Handan says Haci has interrogated the aghas, Kosem was the one who planned it all! Haci goes to call Kosem to see Handan. When Kosem goes to see her, Handan asks her how will you explain yourself to Ahmet? Kosem says I just wanted to ease the pain of a child missing his mother. Handan says what did you get in return, you have both allied against me? Kosem says you doubt everything. Handan says Ahmet will deal with you, then she adds to Halime that Ahmet will surely send her to the old palace.
Kosem comments that Handan is openly showing enmity towards her. Halime enters and says leave me alone with Kosem and tells Kosem that she will give her a secret if she can stay in the palace and continue seeing her son - then she tells her about Dervish and Handan's feelings of love for each other. Alex meanwhile informs Gurbuz agha that tomorrow he is going to Uskudar.
Meanwhile, Menekshe has reported what she heard when she eavesdropped on Derv and Han. Halime says I said what I had to, the rest is up to you, God help you.
Hum is telling Ahmet that she was horrified when she found out what happened with her mother and that she wishes she was here so she could have prevented. Ahmet says I will never forgive her she stabbed me many times in my back. She says dont worry I did not come here for that, she deserves it, but she has lived a hard life. Ahmet says we all have lived the past, but she was the only one who didn't deal with it. She says yes, you are right, but no matter what she is my mother, so if you permit, I wish to see her.
Alex goes to see the man in Uskudar about the shirt.
Kosem says we have to be sure about Dervish and Handan and the only person who can help is Haci.
Hum is being taken to her mother and she comments to Zul about Ahmet trusting Zulfy so much and he says Safiye personally asked to write to you. Hum says there was a time she got me married off and sent away and I lost everything that day, my happiness etc, I did not think I would ever return. Zul says maybe it is fate that brought you back to reunite with all you have left behind here.
Alex finally admits the shirt is his own and the man asks if he has a birthmark on his shoulder and he then he says I will do more than tell you - come tomorrow we shall go together to your family.
Hum goes to see her mother and they eventually embrace.
Kosem tells Haci that she knows about Derv and Han and he says no , don't believe it I swear. Kosem says you know Ahmet will listen to me - but I won't say anything if you help me. Haci says no, you just don't have proof. Kosem says sit, I am not finished and you may find my words heavy. You have been looking for the murderer of Ahmet's father right? That murder is Dervish pasha.
Safiye says I did not want you to see me like this, but it is my fate. Hum says I heard first about my sister's death then what happened to you. Safiye says my poor daughter, Dervish killed her, by Ahmet's order. Hum says what were you waiting for? You attempted on Ahmet's life and eyed his throne and you'd just carry on your life same as always?!
Haci is in disbelief and Kosem and Cennet say maybe they did it together...they were the ones who woudl benefit most from the Sultan's death. Haci doesnt believe and says Handan does not return the feelings Dervish has! Kosem says then this is a letter where Dervish is himself saying he has killed Ahmet's father.
Humashah tells Safiye that her thirst for power has done this to her. She says I was always like this never changed! Hum says you should have changed, because it was not your son on the throne now, your grandson, you are not a Valide sultan anymore, You cannot threaten the king and expect to share his power. Safiye says it was not always this way, Kosem and Handan came in between. Hum says you have gifted Kosem at this young age with such power! Safiye says the higher she goes, the harder she'll fall. Humasha says, like you. Safiye says how many seasons passed I do not know, but I called you many times, wrote you, you never responded. Not even when I was ill. Why have you come now? To see me like this? You hate me like everyone else. Humashah finally says it is true I am angry about a lot of things, but, I never hated you, never will. When you are getting out or how, be rest assured, I am Safiye Sultan's daughter, I will not bow to your enemies nor take side with them!
Bulbul sees Selahuddin efendi who tells him about Alex, that the prince that had gone missing is the boy himself - he even has the mark, "we have found the lost shehzade!"
Dervish has called on Mehmet Giray.
Haci has gone to Handan and says I overhead Cennet and Eycan talking about a letter from Dervish to Shahin in the past. I went and found it in Cennet's room, but what is written in the letter is scary- he has personally admitted to murdering our Padishah! He hands the letter over to Handan and she throws it out without reading it. She says no one will know this Haci, it will go to our graves. Haci says you knew? Handan says yes, nothing is as it seems. Dervish is a murderer, but she did it for us - for me and my son! (so basically Kosem's trick worked to prove to Haci).
Dervish gives Mehmet Giray a letter saying you have to give this to your uncle and Mehmet says my uncle will kill - Dervish says no, he cannot because you are the heir and messenger, he can't and if he does don't worry we'll deal with him. Mehmet says are you trying to get rid of me like this? Dervish says I know about you telling Kosem but it won't work. Why? Because I am Dervish pasha, Ahmet's grand vizier, power is mine. No one can threaten me anymore.
Haci returns to Kosem and he says you were right. Dervish had killed our Padishah, and Handan knew everything! From the very start! Kosem says if that is the case, will you help me? Haci nods.
Kosem enters and Handan says what do you want? Kosem says I want the truths to come to light. Handan says stop playing games with me! Kosem says the games are over. Dervish is the murderer of our deceased Padishah and you are in on it - you have a relationship with him. Handan says you cannot prove any of this! Kosem says I can - I have such a witness that a single word will be enough! Handan hits Kosem who falls unconscious. Humasha enters just then and finds blood from Kosem's head. Handan stutters "she attacked me first!"

Haci finds out whose earring it is - Kosem's servant girl (Menekshe is watching them and we know that Menekshe has planted the earring there). Kosem asks Bulbul who is helping Safiye and tries to convince him by saying that Safiye is cruel, only caring for power. Bulbul tells her that everyone
starts off innocently seeking power to protect their loved ones, but power ends up destroying innocence. Menekshe informs Halime about her trick with the earring and that now Handan will go at Kosem because she will think she was the one who heard about Dervish's love for Handan. Halime comments let them go at each other.
Handan informs Dervish thatKosem has heard everything in the pearl mansion and is threatening them, she says what can we do? Dervish says there is nothing she can prove.
Ahmet tells Kosem that she hashis permission to see Mustafa too, just like she has loved Osman as her own she has permission to give love to Mustafa too.
Haci tells Kosem Handan has to see her so she goes. Cennet finds out Kosem's servant girl is in the bath and she sets off to find her. Handan scolds Kosem for going out of the palace. Then she confronts Kosem saying you do not respect me or anyone or bow to them. Cennet finds a girl dead in the bath. Handan says I know you have set a trap for Dervish and myself, you want to get rid of us both this way. Kosem says why would I want to do that ? Handan tells her I warn you for the last time do not test my patience. Kosem says she doesn't know what she is talking about and what have I done tell me. Haci enters and tells them about Kosem's servant having killed a girl in the hamam. Kosem arrives and Eycan tells her I am innocent that the other girl attacked her and to please help. Handan is secretly happy and says to Haci this is better Eycan will be executed for this and no one can suspect us. Kosem arrives and says is this how you threaten me? Then she says the girl tried to kill Eycan, she only tried to protect herself, someone had sent her to kill Eycan, if you dare, next time send someone to do me! Ahmet has overheard and tells Kosem to return to her room.
Handan tells Ahmet that I was simply warning Kosem to be careful and you saw, she is very rude and doesn't follow manner or tradition! Ahmet says yes, Kosem must not disrespect you, but you must also respect her, she is precious to me. Handan says oh so I must live to hear this...she is more precious than me ? Ahmet says I do not compare you with anyone...the same as I do not compare her with anyone. All I want is peace in my harem.
Cennet tells Kosem that Eycan is imprisoned and will be executed. Kosem says Handan has crossed the limit of my patience, and she doesn't know what is going on, maybe all this is to make everyone enemies - Cennet says yes exactly so don't go tomorrow to meet Mehmet Giray, just let this matter go. Kosem basically says no, I will go to find the truth.
Kosem goes to meet Mehmet. Meanwhile Dervish is with other pashas in a Divan session. Kosem sees Reyhan come out of the shadows. Dervish meanwhile is saying he is not like other grand viziers, he will not deal with mistakes or crimes like bribery lightly. Reyhan tells Kosem about the time when Dervish worked with him and Shahin - Shahin wanted to take the throne and reyhan and Dervish would become his viziers and so they poisoned Ahmet's father slowly. But afterwards Ahmet got on the throne and Dervish rose the ranks and turned his backs on us and tried to rid of us. Kosem asks if he can relate all this to Ahmet. Reyhan says first I need you to get a promise that my life will be spared and I will get money to live off of. Kosem tells Mehmet Ahmet will find out about Dervish's doings.
Ahmet tells Alex that he needs people around him like Zul and Dervish and then tells Zulfikar to tell him his new duty.
Cennet has come to take Eycan. Safiye meanwhile finds a note in her bread that Nasuh has written to her iforming her that they were unable to kill Kosem.
Safiye is told that Alex is the new guard. She says where do I know you from? He says I used to come to practice with our Hunkar. Then he says she cannot speak to anyone else other than him. She says okay then say when my daughter comes will she be visiting me? Alex says if Ahmet sees it fit.
Zulfy tells Eycan that the crime is execution and there were no witnesses, but Cennet says she is witness the other girl had attacked Eycan first. Zulfy calls for the Quran to be brought so she can swear on it that she is speaking the truth.
Dervish is told by a minion of his that they have found Reyhan and that Kosem was also with Mehmet Giray to see Reyhan. Kosem meanwhille goes to see Zulfy and says I need to speak to you about Dervish.
Haci tells Handan that Eycan is spared because Cennet served as witness for her. Zulfikar meanwhile tells Kosem after she has told him about Dervish being involved in Ahmet's father's murder that Dervish will not be able to get out of this if it is true.
Handan scolds Cennet and tries to threaten her with taking her new rank away but Cennet reminds her only Ahmet can do that.
Reyhan is taken and meanwhile Kosem is comforting Meleki when Cennet enters and says she feels bad for giving false witness, a big sin, and Kosem says you did to save an innocent life, and don't worry, pray to God, help the poor and give some charity to atone for it.
(I am skipping the Divan stuff mostly, but just saying that Murat wants to have the treaty with the Austrian delegation and they should agree to the terms, but Dervish and Ahmet say no, Ahmet says but do call on the delegation so we can meet with them. )
Mehmet leads Zulfikar to the place Reyhan is hiding, but he is gone and they realize it must be Dervish. We see Dervish killing Reyhan.
Halime tells Cennet she is glad Eycan has been saved and Cennet says I have come to tell you that Kosem is waiting for you where Mustafa is staying.
Dervish informs Handan that he has rid of Reyhan, but now he worries about Kosem because she now knows everything as Reyhan has already exposed the other secret to her.
Kosem meanwhile tell Halime she has brought her to secretly let her visit her son but that no one must know about it, that she does this for Mustafa's sake not Halime's. Halime prays for Kosem saying may God never separate you from your children! And hugs her. Mustafa wonders if it is a dream he is seeing his mother.
Kosem goes to see Zulfikar who tells her that Reyhan has disappeared and that they looked everywhere. Kosem comments that someone has prevented him from speaking (Dervish). Dervish later asks Kosem that she meets Zulfikar a lot these days and she says yes these days we are looking for traitors these days. Dervish says let me know so I can deal with it. She says I was entrusted to you for protecting by our Hunkar but just last night my closest servant was attacked. Dervish says that is a harem matter our Valide Sultan will deal with it the best way I am sure. She says how will she protect me while she is threatening me I wonder? Are you two getting together against me? Dervish says if you see everyone as an enemy you will one day see the whole world against you! She says I don't care if the whole world goes against me as long as my sons and my Hunkar are with me!
Ahmet and Kosem are talking she comments that perhaps it is good to sign the treaty with Austria even if they don't like the conditions but this way they can go after the traitors better and that what is the value of what is written on paper over your throne being threatened?
Bulbul finds out Humasha's ship has docked. Kosem asks Cennet who this Humasha is that everyone is so worried. Cennet describes her saying she is Safiye's eldest daughter, very beautiful, very intelligent, married to the Beylerbey of Egypt. She can speak many languages, learned in art, music, poetry etc. and even Safiye sultan shies from her. Kosem says just say that one goes and another takes their place.
Humasha arrives. Meanwhile, Alex finds the method of communication between Safiye and the outside world through bread.
Kosem has not made it to greet Humasha because the princes are crying and Humasha is told this when she asks about her.
Alex catches Safiye rapidly ripping through the bread to find a note and says were you looking for this? She says you learned my secret then. He says you will not get any word from outside from now. Oh and, whoever sent this note is saying that your daughter has arrived in the Capitol.
Humashah is told by Bulbul that even Elizabeth has been sent to the old palace.
Zulfikar is somehow stunned by Humasha, it seems they either must know each other and love each other, or he is suddenly smitten by her. Zulfikar asks how she knows his name and past and Bulbul says she is Humashah she keeps informed about everything.
Ahmet and Handan greet Humashah and they tell her she can rest, her room is prepared. She has brought coins and gifts for the harem girls and Cennet comments how generous she is. Kosem arrives and is told that she can visit her later to her room.
Alex informs zulfy about the letters entering through the bread and that they have taken necessary precautions but they do not know who the letter was being sent to.
Kosem says to Alex that she heard he is in charge of Safiye now and he says yes, don't worry I will not let her hurt you anymore. Meleki thanks him for saving her that day.
Halime goes to visit Mustafa. Kosem goes to visit Humashah. Halime tells Mustafa she has to go, despite his insistence and tells to be patient until the day she can have him with her again. She ensures him she will come tomorrow again and the day after that and the day after. etc.
Kosem explains why she couldn't greet Humasha earlier and Hum says you are right, our princes are the most important, but did I hear wrong, I thought you only had one son? Kosem explains how she looks after Osman too. Hum says I will want to meet them soon. Kosem says sure, I do not want to keep you from resting any longer I will see you later and leaves.
Halime is caught by Haci as she is leaving Mustafa's room.
Kosem comments to Bulbul that Humasha is warm and friendly and perhaps she will be friends unlike how it went with her mother.
Humashah says to Bulbul basically how dare Kosem not greet me, and how she dares to keep Osman in her room, and has everyone bowed to her? Bulbul says well, since your mother left the harem order has broken and Hum says do not worry, we shall set the order straight again!
Handan scolds Halime how dare you visit him for days now when you are not even allowed to be near him! But it's over you and Kosem shall answer to Ahmet for disobeying him. Halime says it is not Kosem's fault. Handan says Haci has interrogated the aghas, Kosem was the one who planned it all! Haci goes to call Kosem to see Handan. When Kosem goes to see her, Handan asks her how will you explain yourself to Ahmet? Kosem says I just wanted to ease the pain of a child missing his mother. Handan says what did you get in return, you have both allied against me? Kosem says you doubt everything. Handan says Ahmet will deal with you, then she adds to Halime that Ahmet will surely send her to the old palace.
Kosem comments that Handan is openly showing enmity towards her. Halime enters and says leave me alone with Kosem and tells Kosem that she will give her a secret if she can stay in the palace and continue seeing her son - then she tells her about Dervish and Handan's feelings of love for each other. Alex meanwhile informs Gurbuz agha that tomorrow he is going to Uskudar.
Meanwhile, Menekshe has reported what she heard when she eavesdropped on Derv and Han. Halime says I said what I had to, the rest is up to you, God help you.
Hum is telling Ahmet that she was horrified when she found out what happened with her mother and that she wishes she was here so she could have prevented. Ahmet says I will never forgive her she stabbed me many times in my back. She says dont worry I did not come here for that, she deserves it, but she has lived a hard life. Ahmet says we all have lived the past, but she was the only one who didn't deal with it. She says yes, you are right, but no matter what she is my mother, so if you permit, I wish to see her.
Alex goes to see the man in Uskudar about the shirt.
Kosem says we have to be sure about Dervish and Handan and the only person who can help is Haci.
Hum is being taken to her mother and she comments to Zul about Ahmet trusting Zulfy so much and he says Safiye personally asked to write to you. Hum says there was a time she got me married off and sent away and I lost everything that day, my happiness etc, I did not think I would ever return. Zul says maybe it is fate that brought you back to reunite with all you have left behind here.
Alex finally admits the shirt is his own and the man asks if he has a birthmark on his shoulder and he then he says I will do more than tell you - come tomorrow we shall go together to your family.
Hum goes to see her mother and they eventually embrace.
Kosem tells Haci that she knows about Derv and Han and he says no , don't believe it I swear. Kosem says you know Ahmet will listen to me - but I won't say anything if you help me. Haci says no, you just don't have proof. Kosem says sit, I am not finished and you may find my words heavy. You have been looking for the murderer of Ahmet's father right? That murder is Dervish pasha.
Safiye says I did not want you to see me like this, but it is my fate. Hum says I heard first about my sister's death then what happened to you. Safiye says my poor daughter, Dervish killed her, by Ahmet's order. Hum says what were you waiting for? You attempted on Ahmet's life and eyed his throne and you'd just carry on your life same as always?!
Haci is in disbelief and Kosem and Cennet say maybe they did it together...they were the ones who woudl benefit most from the Sultan's death. Haci doesnt believe and says Handan does not return the feelings Dervish has! Kosem says then this is a letter where Dervish is himself saying he has killed Ahmet's father.
Humashah tells Safiye that her thirst for power has done this to her. She says I was always like this never changed! Hum says you should have changed, because it was not your son on the throne now, your grandson, you are not a Valide sultan anymore, You cannot threaten the king and expect to share his power. Safiye says it was not always this way, Kosem and Handan came in between. Hum says you have gifted Kosem at this young age with such power! Safiye says the higher she goes, the harder she'll fall. Humasha says, like you. Safiye says how many seasons passed I do not know, but I called you many times, wrote you, you never responded. Not even when I was ill. Why have you come now? To see me like this? You hate me like everyone else. Humashah finally says it is true I am angry about a lot of things, but, I never hated you, never will. When you are getting out or how, be rest assured, I am Safiye Sultan's daughter, I will not bow to your enemies nor take side with them!
Bulbul sees Selahuddin efendi who tells him about Alex, that the prince that had gone missing is the boy himself - he even has the mark, "we have found the lost shehzade!"
Dervish has called on Mehmet Giray.
Haci has gone to Handan and says I overhead Cennet and Eycan talking about a letter from Dervish to Shahin in the past. I went and found it in Cennet's room, but what is written in the letter is scary- he has personally admitted to murdering our Padishah! He hands the letter over to Handan and she throws it out without reading it. She says no one will know this Haci, it will go to our graves. Haci says you knew? Handan says yes, nothing is as it seems. Dervish is a murderer, but she did it for us - for me and my son! (so basically Kosem's trick worked to prove to Haci).
Dervish gives Mehmet Giray a letter saying you have to give this to your uncle and Mehmet says my uncle will kill - Dervish says no, he cannot because you are the heir and messenger, he can't and if he does don't worry we'll deal with him. Mehmet says are you trying to get rid of me like this? Dervish says I know about you telling Kosem but it won't work. Why? Because I am Dervish pasha, Ahmet's grand vizier, power is mine. No one can threaten me anymore.
Haci returns to Kosem and he says you were right. Dervish had killed our Padishah, and Handan knew everything! From the very start! Kosem says if that is the case, will you help me? Haci nods.
Kosem enters and Handan says what do you want? Kosem says I want the truths to come to light. Handan says stop playing games with me! Kosem says the games are over. Dervish is the murderer of our deceased Padishah and you are in on it - you have a relationship with him. Handan says you cannot prove any of this! Kosem says I can - I have such a witness that a single word will be enough! Handan hits Kosem who falls unconscious. Humasha enters just then and finds blood from Kosem's head. Handan stutters "she attacked me first!"

Kosem Sultan Episode 16 Translation
Halime is saying leave me Menekshe they are going to kill mustafa I know it! Menekshe tells her she cannot get up, and her wound is bleeding again. Dilruba says they will not, I will not allow it! She shouts for the aghas to open the doors. Halime prays to God to protect her son.
Safiye goes to Bulbul and says do not bow your head, do not be sad, our Lord granted us a magnificent life! Bulbul asks her to forgive any of his shortcomings or mistakes, he says please settle the debts (any wrong he may have done her) she accepts. Then she is led away, leaving her loyal servant crying and calling out to her.
Haci is asking the executioners where Mustafa is, and the executioners say they do not know. One of the servants responsible for looking after Mustafa says where are you going my Shehzade, what shall I answer to the aghas?!
Kosem wonders what mustafa is doing at this time of night running around like this.
Ahmet is struggling with his thoughts when there is a knock on the door and Haci informs him that Mustafa is missing.
Mustafa tells the aghas to open the doors because he wants to go to the gardens. They don't so Kosem orders them to open the door.
Dilruba is going crazy at the door and Menekshe has to snap her out of it telling her she needs her help to stop the bleeding because her mother's wound has opened.
Haci enters Halime's rooms demanding to know where Mustafa is hidden. She responds by asking what have you done to my son?!
Meanwhile Ahmet asks where Mustafa is and the servant girl who was chasing after Mustafa responds that he has gone to the garden.
Mustafa finds the dove and says oh you are here, I was so worried about you! Kosem is near him. He tells her to shhhhh, then says oh no, it has gone again!
Ahmet arrives and overhears Mustafa saying that there was a dove who entered his room and the sounds of it's wings woke him, but it was wounded and could not fly (then we are shown what happened and how Mustafa ended up leaving his room).
Kosem tells Mustafa don't be sad, we'll find it. Mustafa says yes please, find it, we have to give it medicine! Kosem says I will let all the aghas and kalfas know, and they will look and when they find it, they shall inform us, is that alright? He nods. She turns around and sees Ahmet who has been listening this entire time. Ahmet recalls his elder step-brother saying I promise you when I get on the throne, I swear, I shall not kill my brothers. From Ahmet's change in facial expression now, we can gather he will not do away with his brother and has changed his mind. He walks over to Mustafa and hugs him and says my dear brother, I will never do away with you, I will never be like my father, I promise you. Promise.
Safiye is taken outside where Zulfikar waits with a carriage. She greets him and says so they have given you this task? Where are we going? How will you take my life? Zulfikar says we must set out at once. Safiye says how has my grandson decided to have me killed? Strangled and tossed outside, or like Fahriye shall I be poisoned. Zulfikar says, I saw you that night - you had the palace covered in blood. I saw your eyes as you sat in the Sultan's chamber - and they were the eyes of a traitor. That of a traitor who betrayed their blood and entire family. If you are curious about your future, I will tell you - you will get what you deserve just as other traitors get what they deserve. Safiye responds saying yes today I am a traitor, now I am a traitor, but if Shehzade Mustafa had gotten on the throne, then I would not have been a traitor, but the regent of the Sultanate and the empire! Zulfikar says thank God we are saved from that kind of calamity! He motions towards the carriage, and Safiye bids farewell to the palace with a last longing glance.
Halime tells Menekshe burn the whole palace down, since everyone is burning us, let them burn too! Menekshe tells her to calm down as the bleeding is getting worse. Halime says her heart is bleeding can she help stop that? Mustafa goes to see his mother. Haci informs her that tonight, mustafa is to remain, but tomorrow he must return to his own room. Dilruba "orders" Haci for a doctor. Halime asks Mustafa to recount all that happened.
Kosem says to Ahmet you had asked which is more painful, the loss of a child, or the loss of a sibling? Well tonight you had chosen your sons - the executioners had gone right? Ahmet nods but says not my sons - I had chosen my princes - I made a decision as a ruler. This is why I had sent the executioners. But they hadn't found him - a bird Kosem, a bird! He got up in the middle of the night to chase a bird...Kosem says, a wounded bird he had said. It is apparent our shehzade saw a dream or imagined. Ahmet says if this was not a sign from God then what is? It is a sign from God indeed, and He tells me..."do not kill your brother, do not!" Kosem says our mighty Lord saw and prevented it.
There is a knock and Ahmet is informed that his mother has arrived.
Meanwhile Mustafa has told his mother about the bird and ends his story by saying that Kosem said she will order the aghas to search for the bird. Menekshe asks what kind of bird it was. Halime comments that God heard their prayers and sent a bird to Mustafa.
Handan reminds Ahmet about what just happened recently and that if he feels sorry for them today, then tomorrow they shall fall into a condition to feel sorry about, and Ahmet says he does not feel sorry for anyone. Kosem says do not worry, our Hunkar's mercy is only towards the Shehzade. Hanndan shouts for her to return to her room and leave her alone with her son. When Kosem leaves, Handan says tomorrow one day, when they use Shehzade mustafa what will you do? How much longer will we live with this threat over our heads?! Ahmet tells her the matter is closed. She responds you saying it is closed doesn't close the matter. Today Safiye tomorrow someone else, while they can say Mustafa come, Ahmet leave, there is no peace for us! Ahmet says let them say what they will, no one will be able to use my brother against us again, because I have given a new order in regards to him! Handan wonders what it is.
We see a boat which is carrying Zulfikar and Safiye to the famous "Kizkulesi" Maiden's tower.
Cennet tells Kosem she has seen Haci who has collected some kalfas and that Handan is looking for a head treasurer and that she wants to get the whole harem under her control. Kosem says yes, Safiye is gone, Halime is not strong anymore and now she has turned on me. Cennet says yes, she is probably going to take out all her anger on you from when you told on her and she was sent away. Kosem says I am not that easy of a morsel to swallow. Then she adds, her head treasurer should be someone who is loyal to me and smiles. Then Kosem is told Dervish is waiting to see her.
Dervish greets Kosem and then points out the boat carrying Safiye to the Maiden's tower and that she will spend the rest of her life locked up there. Kosem says she wishes she was in the depths of the Bosphorus instead but yes. Dervish tells her the legend about the story of a king having the tower built and putting his beloved daughter in the tower because of the fear that a snake would bite and kill her (based on a fortune teller's sayings) and so he hid her there. (and for those who don't know, the legend says a snake got to her anyway in a basket that was brought with fruit one day). Anyway, Dervish adds that now Safiye will be staying there. We see Safiye being stripped of her jewels and crown, and, her most precious ring.
Kosem tells Dervish, there are still many more snakes left behind. Dervish says this is why we must be more careful, that is why you should not be showing friendship to just everyone who has a smiling face (he is alluding to her support of Murat pasha). Kosem says you were so eager to help a traitor like Fahriye sultan get away? He says I am saying that you should put your mind somewhere, whwatever I have done up until this day has been for our Hunkar's benefit. Kosem says let us go back to the matter, who is this person you speak of? Murat pasha? He says it is not important who it is, tomorrow Murat, later someone else - if your intention is to take Safiye sultan's empty place - I wanted to show you the outcome (for someone who tries that!) and he points to the Maiden's tower.
Safiye enters her new dark and gloomy home and the doors are locked behind her. Zulfikar says there are many guards downstairs - taking turns night and day. There is a kalfa for your personal needs. Yes, if you have no needs, I must return to the palace. She says I have one request, my last wish.
Handan enters Halime's room who says what are you doing here? in worry. Handan says shh, don't worry, our Hunkar has changed his mind and no one shall be able to hurt him from now on. Halime says why are you here then? Just then Dilruba arrived. Handan says I am here because my son has made a different ruling in the matter of Mustafa - from now on, none of you, Dilruba, Menekshe or yourself will be able to see Mustafa. Halime asks what this means.
Zulfikar exits and tells Gurbuz agha to keep his eyes and ears open and then says your name was given to me by Kosem sultan herself, do not disappoint.
Meanwhile Safiye is told she needs to change her clothing, and she thinks someone will dress her I guess but no one enters. She says what are you waiting for woman, help. The woman says sorry, this is not one of my duties, from now on you must take care of your own matters.
Halime says what is the need for this, he has his own room now, if you want, I will visit him, he doesn't have to ever come here. Handan says it is an order. Dilruba says what cruelty is this? How can you separate a child from his mother, or me from my sibling?! Mustafa wakes up and asks what is going on. Handan says in place of being happy he is spared you are still being ungrateful! Then she orders Haci to do what is necessary. Halime says at least let me take him. Haci says do not make the matter worse, plus how can you do it in this condition of yours. Halime says please let me take him.
Halime says find me some Afyon syrup!
Cennet has gone to the dungeons and says to Bulbul, so fate had to see you locked in this cage...are you not happy to see me? Bulbul responds what should I do seeing you? Cennet says you are going to your death, I came to say goodbye based on our past (as friends). Bulbul says finish it call them. Cennet calls for the aghas.
Meanwhile, Safiye has dressed in plain clothes and her ankles are chained. She finds a small windown and takes in the fresh air and looks out at her beloved palace and finally breaks down in tears.
Kosem asks Ahmet if it is a good idea to go away again after all that has happened she does not want to be separated from him. Ahmet says until he has not restored order in the Capitol he is going nowhere. Kosem is pleased and says I do not know who to trust anymore...by the way who are you choosing for grand vizier, I guess you must have decided. Ahmet says he does not know yet. Kosem says I know you know best, it has to be a powerful pasha, most importantly loyal to you - like Murat Pasha - if he were to take the position, he would put fear into the traitors eyes. Ahmet says Murat pasha is very powerful.
Halime is ready to take her son. Dilruba says how can you go in this condition, I can take him. Mustafa asks where they are going and Menekshe says we are going to the gardens to walk.
Meanwhile Bulbul wonders why they have come to the Sultan's room and says our Hunkar will personally have me killed right? Cennet says I do not know about that...
Bulbul is brought inside and kneels before Ahmet. He says there are many aghas who take our Sultana's orders...of course they are loyal to them...but there is a limit to it. What are the limits Bulbul? Bulbul says you are the mighty leader of the Family...the limit is to be loyal to our Hunkar. We are not permitted to obey any orders that go against you/are about you. Ahmet says and if you do what happens? Bulbul says, then we are executed. Ahmet says, and you took out every order of that Sultana of yours? Except for one thing - you prevented from Kosem being killed...you helped her escape. Kosem says, this is why our Hunkar has allowed me to decide about you Bulbul agha...and I, have spared your life! Bulbul says you have bestowed from your great heart. Kosem says this does not mean you will go unpunished Bulbul agha. Whatever wealth you have earned has been taken back. You have been lowered to the position of a much lower ranking harem agha. Bulbul asks if he is permitted to stay in the palace. Ahmet says that day you not only saved Kosem's life but my own as well, so your every breath is due to that.
Mustafa says to his mother I wish I could always get out like this, I get bored in the palace, can I do some horseback riding mother? His mother responds, later Mustafa right now we have to go to (one of the buildings in the palace complex, I can't hear the exact name properly right now she mumbles it). Menekshe comments that she does not look well. Halime says stop, the syrup is going to work now.
Kosem tells Bulbul outside in the hall that she had a debt on her for him saving her life, but now her debt is paid and then she says I won't regret it in the future right? He says he does not know what happens in the future. She says we can guess that either you will die because of me, or I will order your death, or...you will be loyal to me (basically). Handan arrives and demands to know why a "traitorous dog" like this one, is still alive?!
Mustafa asks why they are here and Halime says I need to speak about an important matter to you. Dilruba tells him not to be afraid, and Menekshe also bids him farewell. His mother says let us go. inside. He asks where this is and she says this is your new room, you will stay here now. Halime says because of me, because I trusted Safiye sultan and tried to get you on the throne. For this reason, your brother is very angry and is separating you from me. Bulbul is telling some aghas what to do and Haci arrives to tell him he will be doing all those things because has to do his own tasks as he has no authority to order the aghas around anymore. Then he takes his cap and Bulbul says at least let me keep that. Haci gives him one of the other aghas and says here!
Cennet greets Kosem who complains that Handan is now angry over Bulbul being spared and Kosem is told that Handan wants to take Osman away from (Kosem too) and Kosem says I won't allow it! Suddenly, Cennet tells Kosem she is waiting for her to stop acting angry, because she thinks she has not gone on the right path, and she must respect Handan because she is Ahmet's mother! Dervish pasha is probably going to be Vizier! Cennet says I advise you to please them both! Kosem says I don't care etc. Cennet says if you do this, you will suffer more! Kosem says no who you serve, I got you out of there! Cennet says I was simply advising, the rest is up to you. (I am guessing this is a show and they've planned this little argument). Haci arrives and he is told about the argument between Kosem and Cennet.
Ahmet tells Mehmet Giray thanks him for what he has done and presents him with a brooch. Then he says get ready, who knows soon you may be on the Crimean throne that you have demonstrated you are worthy of.
Haci is relating the incident between Cennet and Kosem to Handan who is happy to hear it and says she will take this opportunity because she has been thinking about how to get Cennet away from Kosem for a while now.
Halime enters Kosem's room and tells her if she knows about the decision to remove Mustafa from her and Kosem says well, what can I say an innocent child has to suffer for your mistakes! Halime says well at least let me see him, it is all I want. Speak to Ahmet. You are a mother too, you know what it would mean to be separated from your son. Kosem says there is nothing that can be done as the decision has been made, but don't worry, everything has been done to keep him safe and comfortable. Halime says that Handan might find a way to harm him - I cannot look after what he wears or eats (i.e. protect him). Kosem says no one will dare. Ahmet will not allow it, and neither will I! Halime tells Kosem to be careful of Handan because she is a coward and it can never be known what a coward will do next. Kosem says I have no quarrels with anyone. Halime says you did not bow to Safiye, but you will bow to Handan? Let us not kid ourselves, we have a new enemy...and she is not alone - she is with Dervish pasha.
Mehmet Giray comments to someone that Dervish has his eye on him so he has to be careful. His friend says it is beneficial to take some precautions.
Zulfikar greets them and then goes to the Divan and informs Ahmet about Safiye has been locked up and Murat comments that for some people this is worse than being executed. Dervish says yes, and you must know well seeing as you had been imprisoned in Yedikule prison many years ago. Ahmet asks what that means and Dervish says that years back when he was Beylerbey he had been imprisoned on suspicion of bribery. Ahmet asks if it is true? Murat pasha says it was a matter so long ago, Dervish was not even born (so he wouldnt know about it) and Dervish remarks that he has been looking into all the pasha's backgrounds and he found about this. Murat says they obviously did not write that I was accused unfairly, and that Ahmet's grandfather had believed him despite the fact that Murat pasha didnt have anything to prove himself innocent with. Zulfikar adds that later he was appointed a few years later as beylerbey somewhere else. Murat says yes and that is how I was rid of the accusations. Ahmet says they will adjourn for now. Zulfikar tells Ahmet that Safiye has one last request for him to write to her daughters ( I guess they may introduce one of her daughters or all of them).
Cennet is told by Haci that Handan wants to see her.
Dervish tells Mehmet, so you have become close to Ahmet...Mehmet says is it possible to become any closer to him than you have become? Dervish nods and says yes, and that is why no one can harm Ahmet while I am around. Mehmet Giray says I have nothing in mind except getting the Crimean throne, I have been pardoned. I also have no secrets, but you do - you are our Hunkar's father's murderer!
Murat then arrives and remarks that Dervish and Mehmet's arguments have not stopped despite Fahriye having died. Dervish says that is that dog Shahin's brother - so I do not trust him, you should not either. Murat says should I ask you who I should trust or not?!
Handan tells Cennet that she wants to ask Cennet's advice for something - she needs someone as head treasurer of the harem and who does she think it should be? Cennet says whoever you see fit, my Valide Sultan. Handan says if I see you fit? Cennet says I do not know...could that happen? Handan says why not? You are in the harem for years. Cennet asks what she wants in return. Handan says you will become closest to me, distance yourself from Kosem - I need to be able to trust you. Cennet says forgive me, I do not not know what to say. Mehmet says he needs support. Reyhan tells Mehmet that the biggest support he can get is Kosem's support - she was like a wild wolf when she had first arrived, but now she is a Sultana.
There is a kerfuffle and a fight breaks out (clearly by Dervish's orders). Mehmet is close to being stabbed.
Kosem speaks to Cennet saying come speak to me...Cennet says I have work with Haci...Haci says nothing important. Kosem says okay when you are done, come to my room.
Bulbul who has been demoted to scrubbing the floors is told by one of the girls that Haci has asked for Baklava. Bulbul is annoyed and the girl says oh it was you Bulbul, I didn't recognize you...look what has befallen mighty Bulbul! Bulbul scolds her.
Cennet and Haci await permission to enter Handan's room. Haci tells her not to be afraid that if she makes the right decision everything will turn out very well for her.
Handan asks if Cennet has decided. Cennet says you know my past...at one point I had the chance to be a Sultana, but then it passed me by, now you are offering me one of the highest positions in this palace how would I ever say no to you? Handan says I expected this answer from a smart woman like yourself. She officially gives Cennet the seal of head treasurer of the Harem and tells her you will distance yourself from Kosem and be only and wholly loyal to me. Cennet accepts and kisses her "new" master's skirt.
Dervish is told that as ordered, Mehmet is no longer a threat to him. Dervish asks if it was done carefully, Then he says do not worry, everyone was witness that he (died) due to an argument in the pub.
Cennet enters Kosem's room and says sorry, I must make a distance between you because now I am head treasurer! Kosem congratulates her and Cennet says I must congratulate you! How your plan worked! Kosem says your real task starts now! From now on it is most important that you earn her trust. Cennet motions that Haci is outside. Kosem pretends to slap her and shouts get out of my sight, I do not want to see you anymore! Cennet says what should I do now, she has made me her enemy. Haci says don't worry, Handan sultan will protect you! Let us go.
Safiye is brought food and she asks the servant how they could have seen dry crust of bread and a thin soup befitting her? The woman says what did you expect?! Pigeons, roasts and the like?! He says he is still serving her. He will avenge what has happened to her from each person involved, one by one, starting with Kosem Sultan.
Nasuh is telling his minions that they have to get Kosem out of the palace because it will be too hard in the palace. He says I have found something out that she will come with her own two feet to me!
Kosem asks for coins and other gifts to be distributed in the harem and then she tells Heycan, her friend, that today is important because if Murat is to get the viziership, no one will be able to stand in their way.
Outside, Murat asks Dervish if he didn't sleep last night...Dervish says yes, while there are state matters to deal with, there is no sleep. Zulfikar arrives and tells Murat pasha that the Sultan has asked to see him alone.
Bulbul informs the girls in the harem that the gifts are from Kosem's personal treasury. Handan pretends to smile but then comments saying she (Kosem) wants to get everyone devoted to her and then asks Cennet where Kosem got that gold from? Cennet tells her that Ahmet gifted her two chests from Safiye's confiscated wealth.
Murat pasha enters Ahmet's room and Ahmet calls for the aghas to bring a seat. Murat takes a seat and Ahmet says as you know the vizier seat has been empty, I have finally made a decision. Murat says may it best for the family and the state.
Haci announces Handan who orders everyone to return to their duties and asks Kosem if she is trying to imitate Safiye and buy everyone. Kosem says as you can see I am not hiding anything. I am merely sharing, and was it not just you who bought off my chamberlain? Handan says she has no need to buy anyone because everyone is forced to serve her.
A pasha asks Zulfikar why Ahmet has called for Murat and that perhaps it is for the position. Dervish says whatever it is our Hunkar decides it is for the best. Mehmet arrives to Dervish's surprise. Zulfikar asks what happened. Mehmet looks at Dervish.
Kosem asks Handan why she is coming after her. Handan replies no reason, Safiye is gone, and from now on to keep the order around here it is important that I am the only powerful one with authority. Kosem says I guess you forgot what happened recently. If it wasn't for me, the end of the dynasty would have come and gone. If you want to be the only one then fine, you will have to be prepared to pay the price for it.
Mehmet says someone had sent someone purposely to attack him. Dervish says be careful you are important to us. Mehmet Giray says yes, I will be more careful. Then he leaves. Murat pasha returns holding the seal and says that Ahmet has handed him the seal of viziership...to deliver to you! And then he congratulates him.
We see that when Ahmet is speaking to Murat he is saying there are many who serve him, and that he is among the most valuable and that one day he shall serve him in the role of Grand Vizier, but not right now because he is his most powerful commander and so he is needed on the battelfield. Murat pasha says it is not my place, but if I have the seal, perhaps I can be more commanding on the beys and pashas, Ahmet says you will go as my main commander, you will be ahead of everyone. But the seal will stay here with Dervish pasha, because he will be in the Capitol. You deliver the seal to him, so that he can see how valuable you are.
Murat tells Dervish that hopefully he will be worthy of the seal and not disappoint Ahmet and not to forget whose hands he got the seal from and that the sword of justice hangs over him and if he strays from being just, then the first neck the sword falls on, will be his own.
Mehmet Giray visits Kosem and says I need to speak to you before I am attacked again. Kosem tells him to speak and he says that Dervish is not to be trusted, as he is a murderer. That he is the murderer who poisoned Ahmet's father.
(Finally Dervish's clothes changed, the other outfit and headgear looked weird). He enters Ahmet's room.
Meanwhile, Kosem asks Mehmet if he knows who he is talking about - Dervish protects Ahmet, he just recently took arrows for him, etc. Mehmet says this doesn't change anything - a man who poisons a ruler - when the time comes he will poison another one if he wants. Kosem says why should I believe you? Can you prove it? Mehmet Giray says sorry, no proof, but I have a witness. Kosem says in this matter, one cannot simply believe hearsay. If you have proof...Mehmet says everything I said is true - if you believe me, we can find the needed evidence together. Kosem says wait for word from me.
Dervish kisses Ahmet's robes and thanks Ahmet for bestowing this rank on him. Ahmet says I have no doubt in your loyalty, or of your worth, God help you.
Kosem sees Murat and Murat says you must have heard? Dervish pasha became grand vizier. Kosem says I was so certain you would get the seal. Murat says the seal is a very heavy responsibility to bear, and Dervish had more time to go before getting it, I do not think he can bear this burden for a long time. Kosem says I have a feeling that will be the case too...
Ahmet is working on his carving and he calls for Zulfikar and says he wishes to see Mustafa.
Halime tells Handan, I cannot sleep, all I think of is my son, what he eats, what he does alone. Handan says he is not alone, he has so many aghas and kalfas at his feet. Halime says it is not easy, put yourself in my place...it is not a lot that I ask for - just to see him once a day...Handan says you are getting word from the aghas daily about his wellbeing. Be thankful for this! Halime exits and haci has arrived and tells her that the word she has been waiting for has arrived finally - Dervish has become grand vizier. Halime watches her reaction as she says my son has made the right decision!
Ahmet has arrived to see Mustafa. He enters and finds him sitting up in bed, and refusing to sleep because he wants his mother to put him to sleep. Ahmet closes the door and locks it again.
Kosem is told Meliki the little girl has arrived to see her.
Halime and Menekshe talk about how cruel Handan is not allowing her to see her son and that Handan is so happy that Dervish has become grand vizier, and Halime says I know how to wipe that smile off her face!
Kosem asks if something has happened to Meliki's mother. Meliki tells her her mother is not well. Kosem says I will the aghas to handle it. She says can you come visit her because she asks about you. Kosem says I will go to the lodge, come meet me there. Meliki says I must go now, she is alone. Kosem orders that some aghas drop her home. Then Meliki is crying and Kosem says don't cry, I will do whatever I can.
Ahmet goes to see his brother when he is asleep and whispers forgive me my brother, this is the only way I can protect you from me and what I would do to you. I hope you understand one day. He has left the boat for him as a gift.
Ahmet goes to Kosem and sleeps next to her. Mustafa wakes up in the morning and sees the gift his brother has left him.
Ahmet is with Kosem and she says I hope all the best for Dervish's getting the seal, I won't lie, I was surprised. Ahmet says he needed a young vizier etc. he asks if she doesn't trust him? Kosem says I don't know who to trust anymore...
Dervish admires himself and says finally, after crossing so many seas and mountains you finally got what you wanted - the seat of power and might. Then, he is informed that Handan awaits his arrival in the Pearl Mansion. Dervish orders for his horse to be ready.
Haci says I don't know if it is proper if you meet Dervish, if someone hears they might take another meeting out of it. Handan says what meaning? It is isn't the first time I have met with him. Haci asks if he can join her. She says no, you stay and keep an eye on Kosem. Haci tells her Kosem isn't here, she has gone to visit Shayh Hudai in the lodge with permission of Ahmet. Menekshe has been listening.
Kosem has met with Hudai and the kids greet her. Hudai tells her that the children's smiles are like heaven - and that she has won their hearts. Kosem says she wants to make many more children smile - help more women, more poor, anyone who needs a hand up, she wants to help them. He asks what the chest is, and she says I want it to go to good. You know whoever is in need, please distribute. He says many will pray for you...
Menekshe tells Halime about what she heard and Halime says what are you waiting for, go get there before they do!
Ahmet comments that he has not heard from Alex for a long time. Zulfikar says he has become part of the Akinci (front raiders) and Ahmet says I would like for him to visit me soon to practice with again.
We are finally shown Alex after many episodes. He has moved up in the ranks. One of the men says we can stop here, but Alex says you stay I need to move on. (So they kept him away so he could grow a beard and look older haha). One of the men teases him and Alex has a swift reply that silences everyone.
Meanwhile, Handan meets with Dervish and welcomes him and congratulates him. Then she says the day we waited for has finally come, the winds are on our side. One thing left. Dervish says don't worry, if you mean Mehmet Giray I am going to handle him. Handan says, oh yes that too - I don't know what happened or how, but Haci has grown suspicious is always warning me. Dervish says what has he become suspicious of? Handan says of you Dervish - you and the feelings you have for me.
Kosem is sorting out somethings and a woman says leave it to us, but Kosem wants to help out. Hudai hazret praises and advises her about doing good, justice etc. Meliki arrives and Kosem says don't worry we shall set off soon and then tells her servant to go return to the palace to look out for the princes.
Handan meanwhile tells Dervish that Haci is loyal and that no harm will come from him, but that she has started to fear, because those feelings are so dangerous, that they can burn them both. Dervish says he cannot control his feelings - she is a Valide Sultana and he is a grand vizier, this is the only relationship they have. Handan says yes, it cannot be any other way, so let us not fool ourselves. She says you know right, if someone knows you have fallen in love with me, we will be in so much trouble! Please be careful because of this. Do not allow for any or give reason for suspicion, I will do the same. HAHA, Menekshe was listening from a cupboard.
Meliki could not go through with it and tells Kosem that it is a trap and there are men inside waiting to kill her. She says my mother was in their hands, but I cannot do this to you, please go at once! They run off but are followed.
Cennet catches Menekshe running.
Menekshe tells Halime that their suspicions are confirmed, that Dervish is in love with Handan and her fears about anyone hearing about it. Halime has what she needs to expose them.
Just then, Alex shows up and fights everyone off.
